Jinger Duggar and her younger sister, Joy-Anna, have only gotten closer as they’ve gotten older – even if they live more than 1,000 miles apart. And now that they’re both wives and moms and in a very similar stage of their lives, Jinger said she’s been leaning on her little sis “a lot” as she prepares for her third child to arrive. After all, who better to offer advice than someone who’s already raising three kids herself?

While talking to People this week, Jinger said that as the arrival of her baby boy – her third child with husband Jeremy Vuolo – gets closer, she and Joy have even more to talk about (and bond over) than usual.
“I’ve been talking to Joy a lot because we’re kind of in the same season. She has three kids and I’m going on three kids,” she said. “And so we chat a ton, just FaceTime calls or just to catch up.”
Joy-Anna and husband Austin Forsyth are parents to 6-year-old Gideon, 4-year-old Evelyn, and 1-year-old Gunner, while Jinger and Jeremy share 6-year-old Felicity and 4-year-old Evangeline in addition to their baby on the way.
Thanks to the advice that Joy-Anna is able to dole out, Jinger said she “feels like she’s an older sister” more than a younger sister. But because the two are only four years apart, it makes total sense the age difference would feel different now that they’re in their late 20s and early 30s.

That’s not to say she’s not also staying in touch with her other sisters, who she told People are “such a blessing” in her life. Two of her older sisters, Jill and Jessa, each have multiple children, so there’s no doubt it’s good for her to be able to chat with them about all things motherhood as well. And despite the distance between them, it appears her sisters are able to visit her and her family on the West Coast relatively often.
In another interview with People, Jinger shared she’s also been able to develop a solid base of mom friends in California after setting herself free from the restrictions that growing up in the Institute of Basic Life Principles put on her that caused her to feel “sheltered.”
“That gave me so much freedom to be able to open up and be vulnerable and then, to be able to build genuine relationships where now I have a core group of friends and us moms go out and do fun things,” she said.
Those who follow Jinger on social media have probably seen the photos she’s shared of her outings with her friends, and it truly does seem as if she’s living her best life these days.
The countdown to her third baby is on, and we can’t wait to meet him.
