Should parents bring their kids to concerts? The answer to that question is usually "it depends." There are artists such as Taylor Swift or Harry Styles who are huge with younger audiences and have made their shows kid-friendly environments, but not all musicians want the under 14 crowd at their shows. Rapper Doja Cat sparked a debate this week when she tweeted about people bringing their kids to her concerts. Doja Cat's music is what many parents would consider inappropriate for young children, but that hasn't stopped some from bringing them anyway, and Doja isn't having it.

Doja Cat made her stance clear.
"Idk what the f— you think this is but i don't make music for children so leave your kids at home motherf—er," Doja tweeted.
She continued in another tweet, writing, "Im rapping about c– why are you bringing your offspring to my show. And she didn’t stop there, adding "rappin about eatin d— and p—in on his v-cut, leave your mistake at home."
Doja Cat's lyrics aren't exactly kid-friendly.
Even though she has had radio friendly songs in the past such as "Paint the Town Red" and "Say So," Doja's music isn't what many parents would want little ears to hear. It makes sense she may take issue with parents bringing their young kids to a show where a lot of the lyrics and dance moves are incredibly sexually suggestive in nature — and that she wouldn't want to change her performance to accommodate parents who would willingly bring their kids and then call her out publicly for the explicit content.

Some people had mixed feelings about her statement.
Of course, some were joking, but others were serious.
"Ok but what if my toddler f—s with the music tho? He just wanna crowd surf Doja come onnn," one person replied.
"Your stuff is on @FortniteGame, though. Did you sign off on that?" another person asked.
A lot of people are on her side.
Many people agreed that a Doja Cat concert is no place for a little kid and that it’s a parent’s duty to do their due diligence and figure out what the artist is really about before bringing them to a show.
"Shes right. Its not celebrities’ job to monitor what your kids are consuming. Thats YOUR job as a parent," one person commented.
"Callin folks kids mistakes is crazy but exactly take ur kids to Disney on ice if you want ‘kid friendly,'" another person wrote.
"Period. Cause idk why parents always inserting their kids into s— anyway. The world don’t revolve around lil Billy," someone else shared.
Are concerts a safe space for kids?

The larger debate on this topic isn’t just a conversation about musicians who have explicit lyrics. Some people simply don’t believe that concerts are an appropriate place for kids, unless the artist is The Wiggles. One mom asked her fellow parents on Mumsnet if it would be OK to bring her exclusively breastfed 8-month-old with her to an open air concert, and the replies were mixed.
"No. Too many unpredictables. I wouldn’t want to be near you if he’s unhappy," one person shared.
On the other hand, some people thought it would be a fun experience. "I'd have definitely taken my kids in these circumstances. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Enjoy!" someone else wrote.
