TRIGGER WARNING: This post contains information about disordered eating, which may be triggering to some.
Move over Yolanda Hadid — there's a new almond mom in town. Gwyneth Paltrow has snatched the title of "mother of all almond moms" from the former supermodel thanks to a viral clip from a recent interview. Fans are now worried about the actress' eating habits, and it's easy to see why.
A clip from an hour-long interview was shared by Dear Media.
In the brief video, an interviewer asks Gwyneth about her wellness routine, prompting the actress to break down everything she eats and drinks in a day.
According to Gwyn, she kicks off her morning with a bit of coffee and then doesn't really eat again until around noon when she noshes on some bone broth or soup. The mother of two's belly doesn't get refilled again until dinner time, when she eats something paleo — aka "lots of vegetables."
That's it, folks — that's the diet plan.
The Goop founder admits to doing a few other things for her health, such as an hour of "movement," some dry brushing, and a half hour in the sauna, but that's all she wrote for nutrition.
The lack of diversity in her diet (and the lack of calories) prompted a lot of people to question how she's staying healthy with such little caloric intake.
People instantly drew comparisons between Gwyn and Yolanda Hadid.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum got her own food-based nickname after a 2014 clip resurfaced, showing a young Gigi on the phone with her mother as she complained about not feeling well after having not eaten much during the day.
"Have a couple of almonds and chew them really well," Yolanda told her struggling child.
Several people saw their own toxic parents reflected in the moment and immediately gave her the "almond mom" nickname as a way to describe how fatphobia and body issues are passed down from generation to generation.
Gwyn was giving that same energy to viewers.
The comments quickly filled up with people calling out Gwyneth over her routine.
"I eat one almond but I cut it into 30 segments and eat it throughout my day to keep me nourished," one person mocked.
Another person wanted to welcome an experienced voice to the conversation. "Should we invite Bella Hadid?" the commenter asked.
Still others joked, calling the mother of two the "mother of all almond moms" and "almond mom final boss."
It wasn't just fans sharing their criticisms.
Professionals begun dueting with the clip of Gwyneth's interview on TikTok, pointing out some of the issues with her diet plans.
"This is disordered," one dietician captioned a reaction video. "This is not enough food especially for someone that is 5'9." Please stop following and listening to celebrities for your health and wellness advice."
It's clear there's still a section of Hollywood that's living (and eating) using dated and dangerous wellness ideals. Fortunately, it seems like the rest of us have figured out that essentially starving yourself of nutrition won't keep you happy or healthy for long.
