We never would have thought that the three famous Hemsworth brothers would have shared a single house in California, but apparently, that's exactly what they did. Until recently, Chris Hemsworth, Liam Hemsworth, and Luke Hemsworth co-owned a gorgeous four-bedroom home in Malibu. These A-list Aussie brothers certainly have enough money to each buy their own homes, but they are a notoriously close crew, and since they don't live in California full-time, it does kind of make sense. All three of the brothers have spent most of their time back in Australia's Byron Bay recently, which likely led them to offload their Malibu abode.
Since the place was recently on the market, we've now had the chance to take a peek inside. And while it's a bit modest for Hollywood celebrity standards, the home, which sold for $4.25 million, is quite the stunner to us regular folk. The nearly 5,000-square-foot home overlooks both the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, which presumably made it an ideal hideaway for the active Hemsworths, who are known to enjoy surfing, climbing, and tons of other adrenaline-inducing outdoor activities.
The home's interior, while well-outfitted and tastefully designed, is on the basic side, but we think that was intentional. It's totally Zen! The outdoor spaces are really where it's at, though. This place is meant for enjoying the sunny California days and the warm nights with a breathtaking view. Keep reading to take a look.
Modern Maze
From the curb, the four-bedroom home looks a bit like a modern, concrete maze. It's particularly interesting, because the home's interior is significantly warmer and cozier than its exterior lets on. Still, it does look really intriguing from the outside, and we love how the trees frame the walkway.
Lush Grounds
The former Hemsworth house was built in a gated community in 1979, and is utterly surrounded by greenery. Towering trees and perfectly manicured shrubs surround the entire property, offering even more privacy and adding to the already beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. It looks so lush from the outside.
Mood-Setting Entrance
Beyond the zig-zagging concrete walls, there's a beautiful, heavy wood-plank door offering entry into the home. Again, there are trees everywhere around the front of the home, as well as large patio slabs leading to the door along with decorative river rock accents and a number of statues and stone pots, creating a peaceful ambience.
A Bit Beachier
Once inside, the home's vibe gets a bit beachier. It features tall, bright white walls and light hardwood floors. The juxtaposition of the natural wood with the pale walls is so pretty and clean looking. It kind of gives an Australian feel, actually — a little bit rustic, but still luxurious.
Surrounded on All Sides
One really interesting aspect of the home is that one entryway leads straight to the next, creating stunning views that are connected by the house itself. It's so fun to look at from this angle. It was definitely built for indoor-outdoor living, which is even more evident as we make our way through the home.
Dine In or Out
The house takes full advantage of its scenic location in Malibu with an indoor/outdoor dining area that flows seamlessly between the home's interior and its grounds. Rather than one large dining room, there's a small, more formal dining area featuring built-in shelves, a breakfast bar with stool seating, and an outdoor dining space that's accessed directly via floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors.
Chef's Kitchen
Directly on the other side of the island, which serves to divide the open floor plan just a bit, is a gourmet chef's kitchen. It features top-of-the-line appliances and beautiful quartz countertops. The sleek, white cabinets seem to practically blend right into the walls and reach nearly all the way up to the tall ceilings.
Dining With a View
The outdoor dining area feels significantly more spacious than the indoor space. It has room for a large dining table and plenty of comfy lounge furniture. The space boasts a massive built-in grill and stunning stone firepit, all overlooking the hills and the Pacific Ocean. It's positively dreamy.
A Closer Look
From another angle, the deck dining area is just as charming. There's a minimalist and modern pergola framing nearly the entire space, which also offers panoramic views of the surrounding Santa Monica Mountains. The sunsets from out here must be seriously incredible to watch.
More to the Deck
The outdoor relaxation doesn't end there, though. There are additional outdoor spaces throughout the property. One of which features a long fire table surrounded by plenty of seating for a large family. We bet the Hemsworth brothers spent plenty of nights reminiscing out here together. That hammock is so welcoming.
Amazing Master
The master bedroom is totally spa-like. The white walls carry over here as well, which offsets the outdoor space the room overlooks beautifully. One side of the room lets out directly to a terrace and features large windows that let in lots of light. The decor is minimalist and clean, which helps highlight the natural surroundings.
Bathe in Luxury
While most of this Malibu home is understated, the master bathroom offers up all the luxury anyone could ask for. There is an absolutely massive soaking tub and a steam shower, Calcutta gold marble floors, and ultra-modern double sinks with chrome fixtures. And of course, this bathroom features views to the outdoors as well. The home boasts three additional bathrooms.
Art Space
In the event of less-than-ideal weather, the Hemsworths needn't had fret. Just off of the home's deck is a beautiful lounge room with a dedicated art space and absolutely gorgeous views from a number of wood-framed windows. There's just so much to look at here, it's almost sensory overload, so we love that they chose to keep things simple with decor.
Built-In Beauty
While the art in that space is natural on one side, the opposite side is completely dedicated to shelving and storage. The entire wall is composed of floor-to-ceiling built-in shelves that are intended as a display area for various art objects. It gives the space a sleek, museum-like feel.
TV Time
Beyond the main living areas, the home also features a theater room and a 750-bottle wine cellar. The theater room is a bit of a style departure, with its dark walls and plush, traditional furnishings. Even the dark cabinetry behind the big-screen television is quite different from what we've seen in the rest of the home.
