Sometimes actors really love the roles that made them well known, and sometimes they really hate them … including Jacob Elordi. He recently reflected on The Kissing Booth movie franchise that made him a household name in an interview, and let’s just say that he doesn’t have warm fuzzy memories of filming the Netflix movies. Jacob played motorcycle-riding heartthrob Noah in the franchise, which he now calls "ridiculous" — in fact, he even worried that the film industry wouldn’t take him seriously.

Jacob has made it clear that making those films wasn't fun for him.
"I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies," Elordi said in a recent interview with GQ. "Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape."
The Kissing Booth trilogy is based on a series of books with the same name that were released in the 2010s. They’re movies that are made for teens, and while they may not have been popular with critics, they are incredibly popular with their fan base.
Filming the movies was definitely just a job to him.
In the interview, the concept of the "one for them, one for me" role taking was brought up, meaning an actor takes one role that they need, and then one they want to do for themselves.
"That one’s a trap as well," he said. "Because it can become 15 for them, none for you. You have no original ideas and you’re dead inside. So it’s a fine dance. My 'one for them,' I’ve done it."
He didn't even see 'The Kissing Booth 2.'
Jacob has made it clear that he finds the movies to be a thorn in his side. During an interview with Variety in 2020, he admitted he didn’t even know how The Kissing Booth 2 ended.
"I haven’t seen it," he said. "You’ve seen more than I have. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that, but I haven’t."
His costar Joey King later backtracked on his comments, tweeting, "Jacob watched it," before clarifying that he had given her permission to tweet during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show. The tweet was later deleted.

Jacob was afraid the movies would hold him back from better opportunities.
"I used to worry a lot about what people thought about me, and about the kind of actor I was because of the movies I’d made," he said in a 2021 interview with Esquire. "I just felt very corny, and I felt like I had to prove to everyone that I was a serious actor. I felt terribly misunderstood."
He did acknowledge how important the movies were to his career.
Despite his reservations and downright dislike for the role he played in The Kissing Booth movies, he is also aware how important they were for his career. During an interview on Access Hollywood to promote Euphoria, Jacob shared some rare praise for the project.
"I wouldn’t be here making movies and TV if I didn’t make those movies," he said, adding that he is "so f—ing grateful" to have been in them.
