Jennifer Welch Calls Out JD Vance’s ‘Silence’ Over Racist Messages & MAGA Isn’t Taking It Well

Jennifer Welch doesn’t think those who support the MAGA movement have any reason to think that JD Vance has their best interests in mind. To back up her claims, the Sweet Home Oklahoma alum and I’ve Had It podcast host criticized the vice president for how he fails to stick up for his wife and children. Welch is a vocal critic of President Donald Trump and previously went viral for asserting that those who voted for him should get their “fat a—s” out of Mexican and Chinese restaurants.

Unsurprisingly, this opinion was not popular among those who support Trump. Her recent comments about Vance have also garnered lots of backlash.

The topic came up because of something Vance said.

Welch recently appeared on Chris Hayes’s show on MSNBC’s All In. On the show, Welch slammed Vance’s response to the leaked messages from leaders of Young Republican groups. Politico revealed that Young Republican leaders sent each other numerous racist, antisemitic, and otherwise offensive messages, including messages in which rape was referred to as “epic.” Although members of the organization are between the ages of 18 and 40 years old, Vance dismissed the overtly racist messages by saying “kids do stupid things.”

“They tell edgy, offensive jokes, like, that’s what kids do,” Vance said of the 30-year-old “kids.” “And I really don’t want us to grow up in a country where a kid telling a stupid joke — telling a very offensive, stupid joke — is cause to ruin their lives.”

At age 41, Vance is nearly the same age as some members of the organization. On X, he referred to the offensive exchanges as “a college group chat” and said he won’t “join the pearl clutching.”

Welch accused Vance of not defending his family.

Of course, many people were offended by Vance’s dismissive attitude. But for Welch, his comments felt particularly offensive given that his wife, Usha Vance, is “a woman of Indian descent” and “he has mixed race children.”

She then had a question for people who voted for Trump. “If this man will not defend his wife and will not defend his kids, do you think he gives a crap about you or anything to do with you?” she asked.

She also said Vance has ‘regressed.’

While on the show, Welch also recalled how Vance previously referred to Trump as “America’s Hitler.” She believes it’s Trump’s influence that has caused Vance to “morally collapse.”

“Everybody that comes into his orbit becomes a worse person,” she argued. “Marco Rubio, JD Vance. I think Stephen Miller was probably born terrible, but he’s gotten worse, and that’s how low that bar was.”

Reacting to a clip of Welch’s take on X, some people said she “nailed it.” One person wrote, “Spot on If JD Vance can’t protect his own family from hate, how can he care about anyone else? Actions speak louder than words.” However, others accused her of “reaching” with this particular take.
