Jessie J’s Announcement Hits Home for People Who Experience Pregnancy Again After Loss

It's looking like the year 2023 will be a good one for singer Jessie J. She already has a lot to celebrate, and in an announcement to fans, the 34-year-old asks people to be gentle with her in a message that many of us can relate to.

Jessie J is expecting her rainbow baby!

On January 6, Jessie took to Instagram to share a personal video to her 12.3 million followers, letting them in on a little secret.

"I am so happy and terrified to finally share this …" she wrote in the caption along with a video set to her song "Sunflower."

'Please be gentle with me,' the caption continued.

The short video Reel began with a positive pregnancy test and continued with short video clips and photos showing the earliest moments into her pregnancy. The video has a clip of her sonogram and first look at her baby, as well as several snaps of her growing pregnancy belly.

"Honestly, ya girl just wants to ugly cry in public in a catsuit eating a chocolate covered pickle with no questions asked," she shared in the video caption.

Famous friends and fans took to the comment section to leave their well-wishes.

"AHHHHHHHHH SCREAMING CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!! " Kelly Rowland wrote.

"You look completely radiant and full of joy," fellow singer Ellie Goulding shared. "Many Congratulations my love."

It sounds like Ruby Rose found out before the world, sharing, "When you told me — in my heart I'd hearts I felt the most gratitude. You deserve this beyond belief."

Since posting her video, it's already been viewed more than 6 million times. She looks to be comfortably into her second or third trimester. However, she didn't share her expected due date.

Jessie's road to parenthood hasn't been easy.

In late August 2022, Jessie got honest about the grief she was experiencing nine months after a miscarriage following her decision to have a baby on her own.

"When I was 16 years old, I wrote a list of things I wanted by the time I was 30," the singer shared in a caption at the time. "[First] thing on the list was to be a Mum. Now I'm nearly 35 and some days the grief of losing a baby and it not being easy to have one, and wanting my life in that way to look completely different to what it looks like right now just overwhelms me."

She continued, "I know it's healthy and normal to have days of complete sadness and to honor all the feelings that come up, good and bad.

"The bad isn't often at all and yes I could go through this moment right now today alone in private and usually do, but today I am here. Because I know thousands of people around the feel just like I do."

In the weeks following her miscarriage, Jessie opened up about her grief.

"I truly now understand why women so often talk about the want and need for miscarriage to be openly spoken about more," she wrote in an Instagram post.

"As I have learnt now that what people know of miscarriage to be (including myself before this past 2 weeks) unless you have personally experienced it. What people think it is, is in fact not a true reflection of what it really is at all. How can people support when they don't know?" she continued.

"I have never experienced physical pain and trauma or felt loneliness like it," she added. "This has changed me forever. In the most, heartbreaking, but beautiful way. It's put life into perspective in a way nothing else ever has."

She concluded, "I am so sorry if you have ever been through it alone or not, or are going through it right now at any stage of pregnancy. Losing your baby is one of the worst feelings in the world."

Her openness about miscarriage and grief is why her pregnancy announcement hit home for so many others who have experienced loss.

As Jessie mentioned, it's hard to understand how scary being pregnant again can be to someone who knows that not all pregnancies end happily. And fans took to her announcement to genuinely share their joy and understanding.

"I mean I am a no-body compared to all the people who have commented on this .. but I feel your pain and anxiety," one fan wrote, adding several rainbow emojis.

"I have an understanding of what you'll be going through. Wanting to be excited & happy — all the positive things," shared another fan. "But at the same time, feeling more terrified & overwhelmed than you've ever felt. It's like being stretched in all directions, feeling every single emotion, all at once. INCREDIBLY overwhelming."

"After the storm is a rainbow," added another person. "Congratulations Jessie."

Congratulations, Jessie!
