Although some members of the family have continued to support Josh Duggar, even after he was convicted of crimes involving child sexual assault material in 2021, Jinger will not be one of them. In a new interview, Jinger said she's "cut off" Josh completely, and it doesn't sound like she has much hope for reestablishing a relationship with him in the future.
Jinger hasn't been in contact with Josh while he's been behind bars.
Right now, Josh is serving more than a decade in a federal prison in Texas for his crimes, and Jinger isn't one of the family members calling or visiting him, according to what she said in a new interview with Page Six.
"[As] far as my brother is concerned, I haven’t spoken to him, and I think, I would say, no one is outside of the grace of God and being able to change," she said. "But until there is major change, I’ll say that’ll probably still be my stance. [I’m] just not reaching out for any communication at this point."
Seeing Josh's trial play out in the public eye has been 'tough to walk through' for Jinger.
But after Josh was found guilty on both charges involving CSAM, it sounds like she's pretty happy with the outcome.
"I will say I’m grateful for the justice system," she said. "My heart just really breaks for the victims and their families, and I’m just grateful for the justice that is being served now."
At the same time, she showed support for Josh's wife.
Jinger made it clear that she and husband Jeremy Vuolo are there to help Anna and the seven children she is now raising on her own if she needs them.
"I am always here for his wife and kids," she said. "If they need anything at all, I would hope that they would know that they can come to us. My heart just breaks for them as well."
Jinger and Jeremy have held strong against Josh all along.
After his trial came to an end in December 2021, they issued a strongly worded statement condemning Josh's actions, calling him a "hypocrite" in the process.
"We are saddened for the victims of horrific child abuse. We are also saddened for Josh's family, his wife and precious children. We are saddened for the dishonor this has brought upon Christ's name. Josh claims to be a Christian," they wrote on Instagram, later adding that they were ultimately glad that Josh's crimes had been exposed.
It appears Jinger is doing much better now that she's broken free of her family's religious chains.
She'll be telling more of her story in her book, Becoming Free Indeed, which is out now, but as she told Page Six, Josh would need a "new heart" for her to consider allowing him back in her life.
"I think that we’ll just watch throughout the years, and we’ll just see from a distance … if there is any change. I just pray that he would ultimately change in the long run, but … I’m grateful for [the] time [he’s in jail]," she shared.
