Millions of viewers once tuned in to Counting On to witness the love story between Jinger Duggar and her now husband Jeremy Vuolo from the very beginning on TLC. But making TV magic isn’t easy, according to Jinger. In her new book, she called filming those early days of their relationship “awkward,” and the camera crew even had them reenact one of their big relationship milestones multiple times.

Jinger’s new book was released earlier this week.
Called People Pleaser: Breaking Free From the Burden of Imaginary Expectations, the book contains stories from Jinger’s upbringing and time on reality TV as she delves into her journey to ending her people-pleasing tendencies and becoming more true to herself.
In one part of the book, she talks about her early relationship with Jeremy, which she said felt like a “date night on demand” because they were at the mercy of the TLC crew.
One moment that stuck out to her? The day when Jeremy asked her to be in an official relationship with him. She got to relive it several times, but it wasn’t as fun as it sounds.

“Fast-forward a few months, and I found myself walking down the staircase in my house toward Jeremy, anticipating that we might be about to make our relationship official,” she wrote. “I took each stair carefully, smiling at Jer, butterflies in my stomach, excited to hear what he would say to me when I got to the bottom of the stairs. ‘Cut! Jinger, go back up the stairs please! We need to start over to get the shot.’ OK.”
It was still the ‘sweetest moment,’ Jinger wrote.
“And then we got to do it all over again because there was a mic issue. And then we had to do some more takes. And then we had to do cutaways,” she continued.
Growing up in front of a camera crew means that this all became second nature to her, but it had to be pretty wild for Jeremy’s relationship with her to start off like this – especially because we know Jim Bob did not give his blessing for them to start dating for months.
In the end, their relationship survived it all, and they have a beautiful life together – no camera crews included.
