A decision about Josh Duggar’s appeal has been made. According to multiple reports, the appeal has officially been terminated. This means that the former 19 Kids and Counting star will serve the entirety of his sentence, which will see him behind bars until October 2032. Josh's team filed the appeal after he was found guilty in his child pornography case, requesting a new trial, but the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit chose to uphold the original conviction. Earlier this year, the court made the decision to extend his sentence by two months from August 2032 to October 2032.

Josh's legal team has been trying to get a new trial for a while.

Josh was found guilty of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material in December 2021, before being sentenced in May 2022. He is currently serving his sentence at FCI Seagoville in Texas. A year ago, in October 2022, his legal team filed the appeal, asking the court to overturn the conviction. They filed several extensions, and the termination of the appeal is a direct result.
Why were they appealing in the first place?

Since his conviction, Josh's attorney, Justin Gelfand, has maintained that he believes that Josh's cellphone was seized by authorities while he tried to call his legal counsel, and that's why they were trying to appeal the original conviction. But the court of appeals argued that Duggar "voluntarily acquiesced" to questioning.
Anna Duggar is still standing by her man.
Despite all logic saying otherwise, Josh’s wife Anna is "constantly praying" about the future of her marriage.
"Anna is still very much questioning their future,” a family insider told In Touch Weekly earlier this year. "She took her wedding vows seriously and she wants to stand by her man and all that, but the reality of her situation is very difficult."
The source added, "Anna married Josh for better or worse and it can’t get any worse than this." Anna is raising their seven children alone.
Some of Josh's sisters have distanced themselves from their brother.
More than one of the Duggar daughters have spoken out against their brother, making it clear that they have no interest in ever having a relationship with him again.
"That’s been one of the hardest things," Jinger Duggar told Us Weekly earlier this year. "It is difficult to even discuss it. What I will say is that I am grateful for the justice system. I’m grateful that justice is being served with my brother."

Jill Duggar has spoken out against Josh multiple times.

Jill Duggar has also been quite outspoken about how being one of her brother’s alleged victims has affected her throughout her adult life.
"People are quick to say, 'Oh, anger is bad,' but I'm like, 'No, anger can be a good thing,'" she recently told People. "Especially when it propels you to advocate for people finding their voice."
