Justin Timberlake Arrested After Allegedly Driving While Intoxicated in Sag Harbor

As far as celebrity arrests go, this isn't one fans likely ever expected to see. On Monday night, Justin Timberlake was arrested in Sag Harbor, New York after he was caught allegedly driving while intoxicated. The story is still breaking, so more information is coming out all the time, but here's everything we know so far about the situation.

Justin was arrested on Monday night.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, police confirmed that Justin was arrested on DWI-related charges, according to TMZ. A source close to the singer told the news outlet that Justin had dinner with friends at a hotel, and when he left around 12:30 a.m., he was pulled over "almost immediately."

His arrest also involved traffic violations.

A law enforcement source told TMZ that police began to follow Justin after he failed to stop at a stop sign, and when they saw the car swerving, they pulled him over.

The officers performed a field sobriety test, and when they asked him to perform a breathalyzer test, Justin refused.

Later, People confirmed that Justin was arrested one account of DWI and received two citations, for running a stop sign and for failure to keep in lane.

The Sag Harbor Police Department released a statement about his arrest.

"On June 18, 2024, at 12:37 AM, Justin R. Timberlake, age 43, of Tennessee, was observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel," said the statement, via People. "A traffic stop was initiated by a Police Officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition."

His friends were reportedly at the scene.

The source went on to say that Justin's buddies he'd been with that night tried to persuade the police to let him off, but obviously, their pleas didn't work. TMZ has also reported that the arrest was recorded on a body cam, though it's unclear whether that footage will ever see the light of day where the public is concerned.

Justin is no longer in police custody.

As of Tuesday morning, Justin was still in police custody and was scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment. Police told the Long Island news outlet Newsday that his specific charges will be announced publicly soon.

The singer was released shortly after the hearing and is due to return to court on July 26.

Justin is on tour.

News of Justin's arrest comes in the middle of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour. His next shows are scheduled for June 21 and 22 in Chicago. At this point, there's no word on whether he will have to reschedule those tour dates in light of the situation.
