Kourtney Kardashian Reveals She Ingested Her Own ‘Juicy Placenta’ After Son Rocky’s Birth

Now that Kourtney Kardashian seems to be adjusting to life with a new baby added to her crew, she's sharing an update on her postpartum healing process. On Wednesday, Kourtney took to her Instagram Stories to reveal that she was ingesting her own "juicy placenta" after baby Rocky finally arrived, along with all of the benefits she believes she's getting from this unique practice. It's not the first time that Kourtney has done this — and it's definitely not for everybody …

Though the Instagram Stories posts have since expired, Page Six was able to capture screenshots while they were still live. After first assuring her followers that this was not an ad, Kourtney went on to share a photo of the capsules, which have been made by a company called Mommy Made Encapsulation.

On the photo, Kourtney went on to list why she's consuming her placenta, adding that it may reduce the chances of postpartum depression and that it creates an "overall faster and better recovery from having the baby."

She referred to it as a 'juicy placenta.'

Although this may be a bit disturbing for some to read, she's actually throwing it back to an old episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, when she and Kim tried to prank their family.

"Kim and I decide to marinate some juicy placenta and cook it up and serve it to everyone for dinner," Kourtney said in the episode.

This isn't the first time Kourtney has consumed her placenta.

After Kourtney gave birth to her third child, Reign, in December 2014, she was open about encapsulating his placenta, even calling it "yummy" in one Instagram post where she shared a photo of the pills.

"No joke … I will be sad when my placenta pills run out. They are life changing!" she wrote at the time.

Some experts aren't happy about Kourtney promoting the practice.

According to the Mayo Clinic, there are no proven health benefits from consuming the placenta — something one doctor pointed out while speaking with the Daily Mail about Kourtney's latest Instagram posts.

"No healthcare professional with any integrity would endorse these pills. There is no scientific basis for any benefit whatsoever, physical or mental," Dr. Ellie Cannon told the news outlet. "But also, when high profile people say they can do things like help postpartum depression, it's dangerous. There's a real risk that the public will choose to take this unproven, pseudoscientific treatment rather than seek medical help."

Kourtney has always been into natural health care remedies.

After all, she does have her own supplement brand, Lemme, so it's not surprising she would want to encapsulate her placenta again this time around.

But hopefully, those reading her posts are also getting healthcare advice from their doctors. Conditions like postpartum depression are very real, and new moms deserve to receive medical attention to help their mental health.
