Kylie Jenner Shares Candid Thoughts About Being Famous at a Young Age

Kylie Jenner was still very much a kid when Keeping Up With the Kardashians premiered on E!, and at this point, she’s spent more of her life living under the spotlight with her famous family than living privately. This means that the blunders of her teenage years were there for the world to see and discuss, but looking back, Kylie has no regrets. In fact, in a new interview, she said she has “so much grace” for her younger self.

Kylie sat down with Charli XCX for a new interview.

In a sit down interview that Instagram shared on the brand’s YouTube channel for its Close Friends Only show, Kylie answered questions from Charli XCX, her costar in the new film The Moment.

After Charli asked her what it was like to know that she was responsible for “shaping Internet culture for almost a decade,” Kylie offered up a very thoughtful reply.

“Being in the public eye so young, I think I look back and I have so much grace for myself,” she said. “I didn’t even really know at the time how much power I held — or trends I was setting.”

Her “King Kylie” era became a big cultural moment.

Back when Kylie was sporting her iconic turquoise hair and becoming the queen of Snapchat, she was also launching her Kylie Cosmetics business (and constantly selling out her viral lip kits). It’s easy to forget just how young she was when all of this was really blowing up, but it sounds like Kylie is always reminding herself of just that.

“I just try to be easy on myself and not expect this 16-year-old or 17-year-old to know all the right things to say — or do. I wasn’t holding back, I definitely — nothing was intentional. I was just being myself,” she said.

She also talked about her upcoming movie role.

Kylie is making her acting debut in Charli XCX’s film with A24, The Moment — an opportunity that came up after Kylie met the director, Aidan Zamiri, on a plane and go to talking.

“We were actually on a flight together and you were telling me about this project,” she told Aidan during the same interview. “And I believe in you so much and [Charli] so much and I presented the idea, I think.”

She added, “I was like, ‘Well, if you want me, I’ll be there.'”

The Moment is now playing in select theaters in the U.S.
