Kylie Kelce Says She’s ‘Vehemently Against’ Sibling Gifts at Her Kids’ Birthday Parties

Kylie Kelce doesn’t want any of her kids to receive gifts on a sibling’s birthday. She believes it sends the wrong message. On the February 20 episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast, Kylie said she’s about to have three daughters with birthdays that are “very close together.” Even still, she thinks each child should get their own birthday celebration.

Kylie and her husband Jason Kelce are about to welcome their fourth daughter.

Two of their daughters, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 1, have winter birthdays that are coming up soon. Elliotte will celebrate her fourth birthday at the beginning of March, while Bennett turns 2 on February 23. Wyatt is Kylie and former NFL player Jason’s only child with a fall birthday. She was born on October 2, 2019.

Elliotte and Bennett have picked out their birthday cakes.

Kylie admitted that she’s “not a big fan of big birthdays for babies,” especially when it comes to first and second birthdays. “Those kids don’t know what’s going on,” Kylie said, adding that first and second birthdays are clearly “for parents.”

Though her kids are still young, they have a special birthday tradition that they look forward to each year. Prior to their birthdays, Kylie’s daughters will pick out a cake. “We will scroll Pinterest and Google search to see some birthday cakes for kids’ birthdays, and then we order it,” Kylie explained, adding that her daughters are always “excited” to show the cake that they picked out to all of their birthday party guests.

Both Elliotte and Bennett have already picked out their birthday cakes for this year. Elliotte picked out a cake decorated with characters from the Disney TV series T.O.T.S., also known as Tiny Ones Transport Service. Kylie said Bennett is “excited” about her Elsa cake because the Frozen fan has been “very into singing ‘Let It Go’ recently.”

Kylie has made it clear that she doesn’t approve of sibling gifts.

On Bennett’s birthday, none of her siblings will receive a gift. This is because Kylie is “vehemently against the idea of other kids getting birthday presents on a child’s birthday.” Her reason for this is pretty simple: She wants her kids’ birthdays to feel special.

“Everyone gets a special day,” she explained. “When your siblings get presents for your birthday, it reduces your birthday. It’s not their birthday, it’s your birthday.”

She compared the concept of sibling gifts to participation trophies.

Kylie went on to explain that she doesn’t want to teach them the wrong lesson. Because giving gifts to the birthday girl’s siblings feels similar to participation trophies, Kylie said it’s “not happening” in her house.

“I think it teaches them to a degree that just because someone’s getting presents doesn’t mean you get presents,” Kylie added.
