It's been a couple of weeks since the deaths of her mother and sister.

Sadly, the singer's mother and sister both died on August 27. At the time of their deaths, Mariah had been estranged from them for many years. Patricia was 87 and Alison, who had been in hospice care and died from complications with her organ function, was 63.

Mariah released a statement at the time.

"My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day," the Grammy-winning singer shared in a statement to People. "I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time."

She spoke of their relationships in her 2020 memoir.

In The Meaning of Mariah Carey, the singer spoke about her estranged relationship with her mom and sister. "For my sanity and peace of mind, my therapist encouraged me to literally rename and reframe my family,” she wrote. “My mother became Pat to me, Morgan my ex-brother and Alison my ex-sister … I had to stop expecting them to one day miraculously become the mommy, big brother and big sister I fantasized about.”
