Some Meghan Markle fans were disappointed to learn that they won’t be able to try her apricot spread just yet. On several occasions, the Duchess of Sussex’s As Ever products have sold out shortly after they became available. But some shoppers who successfully placed orders before the products sold out have received emails stating that the items they ordered are no longer in stock.
The brand appeared to experience an overselling issue.
When Meghan announced that her As Ever products sold out shortly after they launched, some critics had their doubts. Recently, however, As Ever appeared to oversell its inventory. According to a report from Hello!, some customers who ordered Meghan’s apricot spread will not receive it — at least not right away.
Customers received an apology message.
Per the publication, an email from As Ever read, “Due to high demand, we are unable to fulfill your order of the apricot spread at this time. We are refunding the purchase of this item by the end of this week. In addition to the refund, we want you to know that when the apricot spread is back in stock, you will be the first to receive it, free of charge.”
Several As Ever customers expressed disappointment about the delay. On Reddit, one person who ordered the apricot spread and received this message wrote: “I don’t understand, I was able to order it? This doesn’t make me want to try to buy again, tbh.”
Another person said they were “on it and ordered within the first 10min of the drop” but then also received the same email, which was “a bummer.”
A third person impacted by the mishap added, “I missed the raspberry and I was so happy I got some apricot. So disappointing. One of these days I will get to try one of her products.”
At the same time, many customers were satisfied with the brand’s response.
While the news was disappointing for those who are eager to try the product, many praised the brand for how the issue was handled.
“Mine as well but the customer service around this is incredible,” one person wrote. “Beyond. I’ve never had another company refund me AND send product when it’s back in stock. It’s thoughtful and lovely. Nice things are worth waiting for imo.”
A second person said they experienced the same issue when ordering honey during the brand’s first product drop. Although it was disappointing, the brand’s response made them feel “genuinely cared” for.
“While I would have loved to have had the honey, I was so impressed with the customer service that they were willing to refund my money and keep track of who didn’t get the product, and then they sent me the honey this time free of charge,” they wrote. “I have never had that kind of experience with another company when a product I want sells out.”
Meghan’s wine recently went on sale — and sold out right away.
The Duchess of Sussex just started selling wine on July 1. In less than an hour, her 2023 Napa Valley Rosé sold out, per People. On April 2, As Ever’s first line of products also sold out within the same time frame. Then, during the brand’s second product drop on June 20, products sold out once again.
After the wine launch, the As Ever Instagram account shared a photo of Meghan and captioned it with, “Still soaking it in- feeling endlessly grateful. Cheers to what’s ahead!”
