Meghan Markle’s ‘As Ever Candle’ Is Fancy, Expensive & Arrived Completely Unusable

In October, Meghan Markle announced that her brand As Ever had officially launched its holiday collection, which included some familiar products like her signature jam, along with new items, like two candles. Many people were critical of the candles even without smelling them because the price seemed far too high. Podcaster Link Lauren purchased one to see if it’s actually worth the price, but claimed that he didn’t even get to test the candle out because he couldn’t light it.

Of course, given that Link is critical of Meghan, you might assume that he claimed his candle was wick-less just to bash her. In his video, though, he assured his followers that he was genuinely surprised to find out that the candle had no wick and that it was not part of a “stunt.”

Link ordered Signature Candle No. 084, which is named after Meghan’s birthday and is meant to smell like her home with notes of fresh water lotus, earthy sandalwood, and California poppy.

He opened the candle on camera and acted shocked. “There’s no wick. Am I crazy? Where’s the thing that I light?” he said. “This has to be a joke… this isn’t a stunt. There’s literally nothing to light in here.”

Given that he couldn’t use the candle, the price was even more horrifying.

Even for a candle that you can actually light, $64 seems pretty pricey. When Meghan launched the As Ever holiday collection, people slammed her for being “out of touch,” largely because she really chose to sell candles for $64 (and in this economy?)

Link still sniffed the candle and said it had “a very feminine scent.” However, the scent doesn’t matter all that much when you can’t actually use the candle. “I paid $64 for a candle you can’t light,” he said, later adding, “If I’m paying $64 for a candle, there better be a wick.”

He did admit that the overall quality seemed fairly high, but obviously with a major caveat. “It doesn’t feel cheap, I’ll give her credit for that,” he said. “The problem is you can’t light it.”

Link also reacted to some of Meghan’s other products.

In the video, he also tried out the jams from her brand’s fruit spread trio: Raspberry, Orange Marmalade, and Strawberry. And though he’s not a fan of Meghan Markle, he insisted that he can be “objective” and “give credit where credit is due.”

After tasting each fruit spread, though, he said he would not recommend any of them other than the strawberry spread, which he described as “nothing groundbreaking,” but still good. To him, the Orange Marmalade was the absolute “worst tasting thing” in the collection (and in general, it seems).
