Meghan Markle Misses Prince Harry’s Award Ceremony To Stay Home With a Sick Kid

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been keeping things pretty low-profile lately, so fans and media alike were excited about the chance to see the glamorous couple at the recent Living Legends of Aviation awards ceremony (yes, this is a real thing!) in Beverly Hills, California. Prince Harry, who was one of four people being recognized for their love of flying and contributions to the field of aviation, was expected to attend the event with his wife.

When he showed up solo on Friday night, people couldn't help but wonder where Meghan was. Given that the pair is always a target for unkind gossip, especially about Meghan, some fans were relieved to hear that she skipped the ceremony for a totally relatable mom reason — she had a sick kid at home.

Harry was honored for his military service and activism.

Harry was honored at the 21st annual Living Legends of Aviation Award ceremony for his many contributions since learning to fly as part of his military training.

The event praised him for the fact that he spent the "first 10 years of his adulthood serving in the British Army, during which he undertook two tours of duty in Afghanistan as a forward air controller and an Apache helicopter pilot. After completing his military service, The Duke founded the Invictus Games Foundation, a platform for wounded, injured and sick service personnel to use sport as rehabilitation. The international event is a globally celebrated display of resilience, community and athleticism that is universally recognized for its impact in celebrating those that serve."

Harry was joined by three other inductees, and helicopter pilot Lauren Sanchez, the fiancée of Amazon's Jeff Bezos, was among those chosen to receive a special award.

Meghan had been scheduled to attend the black tie affair.

According to People magazine, one of the couple's children became ill prior to the event. It was not reported if it was Archie, now 4 years old, or Lilibet, now 2 years old.

It turns out no matter how glamorous or famous a mom is, kids still get sick and still want mom to take care of them! Meghan has never seemed more relatable.

Harry received his award from John Travolta.

John, an avid pilot in his own right, was in charge of presenting Harry with his award, prompting Harry to jokingly remind John of the actor's famous dance with his mother, adding that John has been "dining out" on that for years. People reported that Harry called him "Captain John" and reminded him that "I was 1 year old when you danced with my mum."

Harry did not comment on the other health issues facing his family.

Although hopefully the child's illness that kept Meghan home will be a minor one, it has been a rough few weeks for the British Royal family in terms of health. Prince Charles recently announced that he is undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate. It was also recently announce that Kate Middleton has undergone abdominal surgery and is still in the hospital recovering.

At this time, Prince Harry has not indicated any plans to return to England to reconnect with his royal relatives.
