Meghan Markle and Prince Harry might have started their family in the UK, but now that they’re living in the US full time, they’re gearing up to celebrate Thanksgiving! In a new interview, Meghan opened up about how she’s spending Turkey Day â and the rest of the holiday season â with Harry and their kiddos, Archie and Lilibet, giving us a rare peek into what their lives are like away from the royal family.

Meghan said that now that Archie and Lili are 5 and 3, 'every year it gets better' celebrating the holidays.
“At first, I think as a mom with children youâre just enjoying having them there, but theyâre not understanding everything thatâs happening yet,” she said in a new interview with Marie Claire. “But now weâre at the age where I just canât wait to see it through their lens every year.â
She and Harry like to keep Thanksgiving 'pretty low-key.'
Not only did Meghan mention that “being close to my mom is great” around this time of year, now that she and her family are based in California, but she also said she likes to open her table for anyone who might need a family to celebrate Thanksgiving with.
âI was thinking about, in the past few years of having Thanksgiving here, like many of us, I think you always make sure thereâs room at the table for your friends who donât have family, which is really key,” Meghan said.
Meghan also likes to plan for more than just a meal.
Sure, many of our families might like to sit around and watch TV (or a football game) after Thanksgiving dinner, but Meghan prefers to have some sort of activity ready for her guests.
âWeâre always making sure we have something fun to do. Like any other family you spend time having a great meal and then what do you do? Play games, all the same stuff, someone brings a guitar â fun,” she said.

She puts a lot of energy into creating holiday 'magic' for her children.
Meghan said that, like many children, Archie and Lili love the tradition of leaving out “carrots for the reindeer” on Christmas Eve, and when it comes to Thanksgiving, she’s hoping to give her children “great recipes that they end up connecting to a formative memory.”
âEvery single holiday is a new adventure,â she added.
Meghan and Harry's Thanksgiving sounds pretty similar to many families' plans.
And knowing these two, it seems like keeping things low-key truly is the way they’d want to spend a holiday â especially after all of Harry’s years being a part of the larger celebrations the royal family is involved in around holidays like Christmas. Here’s hoping this season is off to a magical start for Archie and Lili.
