If you’re a parent, you know just how hectic weeknights can be. Even after the kids go to bed, you’re probably getting things prepped and ready to go for the next morning before you get the chance to actually sit down and relax. As it turns out, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who have two children of their own, are no exception, even though they’re the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
In a new interview with People, Meghan shared that she and Harry have what they call a “nightcap recap” each evening after Archie and Lili are tucked in. As the name would suggest, they gather in the kitchen with a drink and chat about their day while they pack the kids’ lunch for the following day at school.
“I think all parents in this phase with kids the same age know it’s rinse and repeat,” Meghan told the magazine.
After watching With Love, Meghan, it appears the family does spend a lot of time in the kitchen together, and on Instagram, Meghan has shared that includes the kids, especially when they’re baking cookies.
Once the lunches are done, the rest of their evening also looks a lot like it does for many parents. “We love Shrinking; we just finished Black Doves, and we’re excited for the new season of The White Lotus,” she said.
As far as the mornings go, though? That’s pretty typical, too.
“I’m up before my kids are, so I’m normally up at 6:30, and then I get them up and dressed for the day, and we go downstairs,” she said.
Next comes breakfast, which usually includes fried eggs for Archie and Harry. “There’s a lot of bacon around here. And then sometimes you don’t have time for all that, and you just put a frozen waffle in the toaster and call it a day. And there’s no shame in that either,” Meghan added.
According to Meghan, she and Harry always operate as a team and not just in the parenting part of their lives.
“We’ve been such a close team for so long that we’re just in it beat by beat with each other. And I love that,” she said.
