On Sunday, Meghan Trainor addressed her fans and critics when she issued a mea culpa for a recent tirade against teachers. The soon-to-be mother of two was facing backlash after saying "f— teachers" during an episode of her Workin' on It podcast, and now, she's attempting to walk those comments back.

Meghan addressed teachers in an apology she shared on TikTok.
The 29-year-old posted her apology, taking back her stance against public school teachers from an earlier episode of her podcast.
"I was fired up because we were talking about how sending your kid to school here in America is so horrific," she explained in the short video. "What all of us have to go through, but especially teachers, is not normal and not OK."
She praised those drawn to teach.

"I love teachers. I fight for teachers. I think they have the hardest job, and they are the most underpaid, they're the most unappreciated, when they literally raise all of us," she continued.
"I don't want to make excuses. I'm just so sorry to any teachers who I made feel bad. And I will remind myself that my words definitely could have a consequence, and I will be more careful. Love you all so much. I'm so sorry again. Thank you all for helping me."
The Grammy winner said she got caught up in the moment when she said what she did.
Meghan went on to explain how she was feeling frustrated due to her own experiences and those of people she knows and loves.
"I had Trisha Paytas on the podcast, and I knew her history with her teachers, and I knew my husband's history with his teachers, and I was bullied by some teachers," she went on to explain. "So in that moment, I got angry and said, 'Eff teachers. Eff those specific human beings back in the day.'"
The backlash started after the April 19 podcast episode dropped.
A frustrated Meghan explained that she wanted to homeschool her children because of the gun violence in America.
"We're homeschooling our kids. F— that. Everyone on TikTok is like, 'This is what it's like to have a kid in America. I have a bulletproof backpack.' I was like, 'f— all of that,'" she said at the time. "Bullying, teachers, f— teachers."
Her comments immediately drew responses from teachers and parents alike.

If the comments on her apology are any indication, Meghan has a lot more work to do.
Many people continued to voice their displeasure with Meghan's choice of words, with several asking her to "share specifically what you are doing to advocate for teachers."
Others simply told her to do better. "We can all agree that the education system is broken and needs reform; however, us teachers deserve respect as the absolute bare minimum," another person wrote.
We can appreciate Meghan's unhappiness with the current state of the public education system, but as someone with a massive platform who could probably actually enact change, this seems like the wrong way to go about things. Maybe she'll take these comments into consideration and decide to be part of the solution instead.
