Over the past year or so, singer Meghan Trainor has made a major transformation … but some of her fans aren’t happy that she’s changed so much. At this point, though, it sounds like Meghan is done with the backlash, and she responded to the “attacks” she’s been getting about her body online during a new interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Lately, it seems like the criticism of Meghan is really ramping up.
While there’s been a lot of noise about Meghan’s weight loss for a long time now, it really seemed to reach a fever pitch when she shared the cover of her new album, Toy With Me, on Instagram. Her appearance drew a significant amount of criticism — especially after she started her career with the body positive anthem “All About That Bass.”
“So you weren’t really all about the bass. I guess the bass is gone,” one person commented.
Another wrote, “Just like every other plastic doll.”
Now, she’s speaking out.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, Meghan said she’s feeling good about her health, but she’s still being “attacked” online.
“I’m literally for the first time ever, after having babies, taking care of my health to the highest level and I’ve never felt better and I look incredible,” she said. “I feel great. And that’s when people attack me.”
Meghan added, “I’m taking care of myself. I have to find a way to not be affected by that.”
She also addressed the comments about her body in her new single.
While talking to People about her new single, “Still Don’t Care,” earlier this week, she told the outlet that the comments on her social media account have “taken a dark turn.”
“People started commenting about my body, saying I’m too thin, and that they don’t recognize me anymore,” she said. “And I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve just been focusing so hard on my health and my fitness that I’ve never felt better.’ So, I was confused and sad and was like, ‘Oh, it’s almost worse now.’ I don’t know what happened.”
Earlier this year, Meghan revealed she has been taking Mounjaro.
Back in April, Meghan shared how she had been working on becoming the “healthiest, strongest version of myself” with the help of the GLP-1 drug, Mounjaro.
“I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy,” Meghan wrote at the time. “And I’m so glad I did because I feel great.”
