Patrick Mahomes’ Brother Jackson Sentenced to Probation in Battery Case

Jackson Mahomes, the 23-year-old brother of Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, was sentenced to six months of unsupervised probation this week, following pleading no contest to reduced charges from his May 2023 arrest for alleged sexual battery.

This sentencing comes two months after prosecutors in Kansas dropped three of the four original felony charges against Jackson following a February 2023 incident when he was accused of grabbing a woman by the neck and kissing her against her will inside an Overland Park, Kansas, restaurant. He was also accused of repeatedly shoving a male waiter.

The 2023 incident was caught on a surveillance video.

Jackson Mahomes, who has unsuccessfully tried to gain fame in his own right as an influencer, was originally charged with aggravated sexual battery against a 40-year-old restaurant owner who told police at the time that Jackson kissed her against her will. The more serious charges against Jackson were dropped “due to a lack of cooperation from the woman” while the remaining charge was related to Mahomes shoving a male waiter, according to the Associated Press.

The woman involved told the media she was ready to 'tap out' following public scrutiny.

Aspen Vaughn, a mother of three, has since closed her restaurant, the scene of the battery incident, and told Kansas City’s KMBC 9 that she faced harassing phone calls and vandalism of her restaurant following the video of her encounter with Jackson going viral. Vaughn, who knew him prior to the incident, had previously kicked him out of the restaurant for causing problems on more than one occasion.

Vaughn explained to KMBC 9 that she would not have called the police to report the incident. Instead, the father of the waiter who was repeatedly shoved by Jackson contacted authorities.

Patrick plans to 'move on' from the situation.

Mahomes’ legal team issued a statement about the case, stating, “Jackson is thankful for the support of his family and friends during the last year. Jackson pled no contest to a single count of simple battery and he was given six months of unsupervised probation. Jackson simply wanted the case to be over with and to move on with his life, the matter is now closed and we will not be issuing any further statements,” People reported.

Brittany and Patrick Mahomes have not commented on the ruling.

Jackson has been a visible presence on the Kansas City Chiefs sideline and frequently pictured spending time with Brittany off the field as well. Even though the couple has not issued a comment about his plea, Brittany has been a vocal defender of her brother-in-law in the past. In April 2023, the New York Post reported that Brittany was asked on Instagram how she felt about the coverage of Jackson and she fired back that those who question him are “ignorant. He is a human just trying to live his life and find his way and until you walk a day in his shoes (which no one ever will) you have no right to say s— about him.”

Under the terms of his sentence, Jackson will avoid jail time as long as he follows his probation guidelines.
