What to Know
After making an unannounced visit to Ukraine to highlight the work of those who have been helping the injured and veterans of the ongoing war, Prince Harry told ITV News, who was following him throughout his visit, some things that has royal family fanatics up in arms. For someone who has been so vocal about formally stepping down from the royal family in 2020, some people are scratching their heads in wonder when Harry announced on camera that he believes he’ll “always be part of the royal family.” Did you hear that, folks? He’s not going anywhere!
While visiting Ukraine, Prince Harry spoke to ITV News and shared that he’ll ‘always be part of the royal family.’
In a video making the rounds, while visiting Ukraine, ITV News asked Prince Harry a perplexing question. They asked him if he recognized the phrase “not a working royal,” to which he promptly replied “no.”
Prince Harry went on to state, “I will always be part of the royal family.” He even went so far to say, “I’m here working and doing the very thing that I was born to do.” He said that what’s important to him on these trips that he takes abroad to places like Ukraine is helping to “bring attention” to issues that “drop out of the news.”
In the video, it also seemed important to him to confirm his thoughts about what’s been happening around the world. He shared that people in the UK and beyond “want to see proper leadership” and “an end to these conflicts,” which is vital for future generations.
Seriously, what’s so wrong with what he said? It can’t be wanting an end to these wars and conflicts that people tend to disagree with. Perhaps it’s him telling the public that he’s still a vital member of the royal family?
The comment section seems to be confused about Prince Harry’s firm stance on this.

People can’t really seem to argue with — though, they may try — the trips Prince Harry takes and the world issues he works to put in the forefront of people’s minds, but they’re sure going to have something to say about him stating that he’s still part of the royal family.
One person in the TikTok comment section laid their issue with him out rather plainly. “For someone who wanted a private life, he spends a lot of time talking to the press,” they wrote. Another person shared a wild interpretation of Prince Harry’s involvement in the royal family, “I don’t want to be a royal, I am a royal. Wtf.”
Another individual in the comments section just can’t seem to fathom where it is he’s coming from. “I’m so confused by his agenda,” they wrote.
There were a few people jumping to his defense. One of them wrote, “Why’s everyone so obsessed [whether] or not his title has been removed or not. He is a prince title or not. Hundred years of royal lineage. He’s literally the son of a king. Also have ppl forgotten who his mum is.”
That’s a great point. Just because you formally step down from your royal role, it doesn’t take away from who your parents and family are.
Some people are definitely seeing the similarities between Prince Harry and his mother’s work in Angola nearly 30 years ago.
Another video shared on social media took a look through a split screen of Prince Harry in April 2026 walking through a demined area in Bucha, Ukraine, and his mother, Princess Diana, who famously walked through a minefield in Angola nearly 30 years ago. It’s stunning how similar the two images are.
One person in the Instagram comments failed to see the positive impact. “It had impact when Diana did it and has less and less impact each time Harry repeats it,” they wrote. Okay, that take seems super harsh.
There are several people who note that things like this do make a difference and Prince Harry is taking after his mother. “Princess Diana’s Legacy is Alive and Thriving in her son, Prince Harry Sussex (aka Spencer),” one person wrote. Another person shared, “Thank them for their kind heart. Rest in peace, Princess.”
Whatever your feelings are about Prince Harry and his role within the royal family, you can’t help but take note that he’s still working to bring important world issues to light, which is something his mother would surely be proud to see.
