It doesn't sound like Julie Chrisley is having an easy time adjusting to life behind bars. Savannah Chrisley recently shared that her mother is having a much harder time in federal prison than her father, which is likely to make her seven-year sentence feel like a lifetime for the 50-year-old.

While talking to her podcast listeners, Savannah said her mom was 'scared.'

The 25-year-old talked about her parents during a recent episode of her Unlocked podcast, describing how her mother was struggling while serving her sentence at FPC Lexington in Kentucky.
"But she's just staying busy. You know, like, she's trying to do anything and everything, take classes, [be] first at bat — everything known to man that she can do, she does," Savannah shared.
Julie's focus has been her health.
The Chrisley Knows Best alum went on to explain how her mother has been "trying to stay busy," finding other ways to pass the time, such as by focusing on her health.
But Savannah admits that she doesn’t think she's getting the full story from her mom. "I think she's trying to shield us from a lot of things," she continued. "Because that's my mom. That's who she is."
That doesn't mean that Savannah hasn't been in near constant contact with her mother.
Julie keeps a daily diary, which she sends to her daughter. Sadly, Savannah says every note contains the same message about how much Julie misses her husband, who is serving his sentence at a different prison.
"I don't think there's a single letter that goes by that she does not say how much she misses my dad. They don't get to talk," Savannah continued, adding that the pair have gone almost four months without speaking.
Todd and Julie have been married 30 years.
After spending three decades together, it can be hard to suddenly have zero contact. Couple that with the things that Savannah says her mother writes about in these diaries she sends out, and it's clear that Julie is struggling with her new life.
"I mean, it was tough to see the accounts of her day and just things that she's scared of or nervous about or just all the thoughts that go through her mind," Savannah told listeners.

Things are likely going to get a lot harder before they get easier.
Todd and Julie will spend a combined 19 years behind bars, so there's going to be a lot of birthdays, holidays, and major life events between now and when they finally get released.
We imagine bigger struggles still lie ahead for both Todd and Julie. Hopefully Savannah is prepared for just how emotional things will get down the line.
