Former reality star Savannah Chrisley has revealed that she tried to take her own life when she was a teen. The 25-year-old shared some of the details from that fateful day on her podcast, admitting her attempt was a cry for help in her ongoing battle with depression.

Savannah revealed a bit about the scary experience on Tuesday.

The former Chrisley Knows Best star talked to addiction and mental health awareness advocate Patrick Custer about the incident. She said she couldn't remember her exact age but believes she was about 15 or 16 when it happened.
The traumatic event took place just before her family began filming their reality series, and Savannah says there's huge chunks of her memory missing from that time.

'Unlocked' listeners learned how Savannah found herself in the hospital.
"It's so crazy because when you go through so much trauma, I feel like your mind just blocks it out," she explained on her podcast. "I also feel like, too, there were maybe some side effects to what I had done to where it affected my memory, but it all really was a blur."
Savannah had revealed during an earlier episode of her podcast that she "took a bottle of pills" after suffering "from really bad depression."
The 25-year-old doesn't remember how she got help.
Whatever happened between the time she took the pills and the time she received medical care is a mystery to Savannah, who only remembers "waking up in the hospital, [her] parents being there and discussions being had."
Savannah credits parents Todd and Julie Chrisley with helping her with her recovery, especially because she said she lied "to the doctors because [she] didn’t want to be held at the hospital."
The then-teenaged Savannah said she was forced to hide what happened to her so she could film the reality series.
"My dad spent countless hours with me every day, just trying to get me to talk, telling me his life stories, his trauma," Savannah recalled on Tuesday's episode.
"Trying to let me know, like, 'Hey, I'm not this perfect person you've always thought I am. I've gone through stuff in my life, too. I've had trauma. I want you to feel comfortable.'"
What a good dad!

She eventually did get professional help.
Fortunately, Savannah was able to receive the mental health care she needed to get better. She says her father "hid it so well" that "no one knew" about her "game-changing" intensive therapy.
It sounds like it all worked out in the end. Hopefully Savannah has been able to receive continued care with all the extra pressure she's under these days. With both her parents in jail on fraud charges and custody of her younger brother and niece falling to her, we imagine she's dealing with so much right now.
