Fans of the hit series Sister Wives are getting a new perspective about star Meri Brown after this tell-all interview. Paedon Brown, one of the children living with Kody Brown and his wives, is now 24 years old and opening up about how Meri behaved off screen, even accusing her of being physically abusive to the kids in their family. His claims line up with other intel about the family over the years.
Paedon pulled the skeletons from the family closet on Wednesday.
The reality star spoke with YouTuber John Yates about his polygamous family on January 11. During the interview, he accused one of his father's four wives, Meri, of getting physically abusive with him and some of his siblings.
For those who don't know, Kody was once romantically tied to Meri, Janelle, Christine (Paedon's mother), and Robyn, but these days, only Robyn appears willing to remain by Kody's side.
"Meri was not nice … Abrasive is not enough of a word to explain what Meri was to a few of us children specifically," Paedon said, later adding, "we were never safe around her."
It appears there may have been witnesses to one incident.
Frequent critic of TLC reality families Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball shared a montage of old clips from Sister Wives on Thursday, writing about a woman who said she saw one such attack against the children during a stop in Big Bear, where she claimed to see Meri hit one of the boys.
"I heard yelling then saw Meri windmilling (hitting the kids) the kids," the witness, whose name is Kimber, told Katie. "Cussing and chaos. Then the other parents were all yelling."
TLC cameras were allegedly on site when it happened.
It seems as if the incident may have even been filmed, according to the witness.
Kimber said she watched the melee from where she sat eating with a coworker.
"There were some TLC cameras, but someone was pushing them back like 'don't film this'," she continued. "The building they are up against is a lot between the arcade and the Jack in the Box. Like an alley parking lot."
The fellow sister wives don't appear to approve of Meri's behavior.
In an interview after the alleged incident, Christine shared her thoughts on Meri's behavior, saying she didn't agree with the way she disciplined the boys. Although Kody appeared to be on board with how his then-wife handled things, Kimber shared that Meri was like a "ticking time bomb going off on the kids."
Scary!
The police weren't called and none of the altercation was caught on camera.
There may not be any footage from the 2011 incident, but this is hardly the first time anyone has spoken out about Meri's violent behavior. Katie points out that Christine, Janelle, and kids Maddie and Paedon have all made similar claims against Meri over the years.
If this is true, it's very sad for the children who were under her care over the years.
