When you think of Kanye West‘s antics on social media and in real life, and what has been captured by cameras, you might shake your head or even laugh at his wild behavior. Honestly, who hasn’t? Over the years, some of Kanye’s most quotable moments have become memes that we can’t really escape. But in clips that have leaked from the 2025 documentary In Whose Name?, seeing Kanye in various states of distress and paranoia are hard to watch.
The documentary, which was filmed over six years by a man named Nico Ballesteros, was released in theaters. While you might have seen plenty of Kanye on reality TV over the years, thanks to The Kardashians, that was nothing compared to the much deeper and seemingly unfiltered look at his life filmed during some crucial, but wild, moments.

The Kanye West documentary shows raw footage from his life with the Kardashians.
According to The Guardian, the Kanye documentary was filmed for six years and includes moments like the time Kanye met Donald Trump at the Oval Office and his numerous Sunday Service sessions which became legendary during their time.
The outlet reported that Nico sent Kanye a DM when he was 18 years old and asked if he could essentially follow Kanye around and film him. The result is what seems to be a no-holds-barred documentary that shows a side of Kanye that many assumed was there, but hadn’t seen much of, outside of reality TV shows or random internet clips.
Speaking of the latter, clips from In Whose Name? went viral on TikTok after they showcased some of the darker moments that are featured in the documentary. In a collection of clips in one TikTok video, Kanye is seen shouting at Kris Jenner about not wanting to be on medication for his bipolar disorder.
In another shot, when Kanye’s cousin speaks out about Kanye being too forthcoming with some of his more outrageous political beliefs, he gets in her face and begins shouting at her. Kim Kardashian, seated nearby, cries, and tells Kanye he can’t yell at someone for having different beliefs.
Another intense moment in the collection of clips shows Kanye and Kim outside of what is presumably the home they once shared. With security nearby, Kanye says he needs to leave because he doesn’t want to be controlled anymore.
In the comments under the TikTok with the documentary clips, many users applauded Kim for being able to stick it out with Kanye as long as she did and stand by his side until she couldn’t anymore.

Kanye West has spoken about his bipolar diagnosis diagnosis before.
The main focus of the Kanye documentary is not his mental health. The film reportedly showcases other moments of Kanye’s life over the six-year time period. But his bipolar diagnosis is part of the documentary, and it is something he has spoken about publicly before. In 2020, Kanye spoke to David Letterman, per CBS News, about his alternative medical treatment methods under a doctor’s care.
“It is a health issue,” Kanye said at the time, by way of explanation. “This — it’s like a sprained brain, like having a sprained ankle. And if someone has a sprained ankle, you’re not going to push on him more. With us, once our brain gets to a point of spraining, people do everything to make it worse.”
In Whose Name? seems to sum this up well for the singer, judging by the leaked clips alone.
