Chin implants are on the rise according to the Today show, with the number of procedures increasing by 71 percent between 2010 and 2011.
One doctor who performs the procedure told Today that he believes the increase is due to people seeing themselves in profile more often, on webcams and in digital photos.
"This is the kind of operation that whispers," he told Today. "It doesn't shout."
Would you consider getting a chin implant?
Here's Today's news report on the procedure:

I have to admit, looking at the before and after photos, the results are pretty striking!
Another explanation for the growing popularity of chinplants is that it's a relatively easy surgery, requiring only about three days off from work and costing between $6,500 and $7,500.
Doctors say there are no workouts that can help a weak chin:
"Having a strong chin is not something you can gain via diet or exercise," says Dr. Darrick Antell, a Manhattan plastic surgeon and clinical professor of surgery at Columbia University. "You're either born with it or you see a surgeon to improve it."
The cons? Dr. Oz told Matt Lauer on Today this morning that there's a 5-7 percent risk of infection. He suggested having the procedure done in a hospital, simply because, he said, if a hospital is allowing the surgeon to do the procedure in its building, the surgeon has got to be good, and to ask for references on the surgeon before getting the implant.
As far as plastic surgery goes, this operation definitely seems less invasive than some of the others — but I would be worried that something would go wrong and I'd end up looking like Jay Leno!
What about you?
