A gazillion readers may have gone ga-ga for Mr. Grey's version of kink as illustrated in Fifty Shades of Grey, but when it comes to women's actual, everyday sexual fantasies, are they really anywhere as jaw-dropping as some of the risque acts in E.L. James' books? Looks like we have our answer!
A recent study from the University of Montreal published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine sought to get the scoop on the most common sexual fantasies for both men and women.
They had 1,516 participates rate 55 sexual fantasies, then broke the fantasies into four categories: "statistically rare" (only 2.3 percent or fewer participants were into these), "statistically unusual" (15.9 percent or fewer), "statistically common" (found in more than 50 percent of the participants), and "statistically typical" (found in more than 84.1 percent of the participants).

Women #1: A Romantic Connection
The most common fantasy for women? 92.2 percent agreed with the statement, "I like to feel romantic emotions during a sexual relationship." No real surprise there!
Women #2: The Right Atmosphere
86.4 percent of women agreed that "atmosphere and location are important in my sexual fantasies." Makes sense!
Women #3: Romantic Location
Blame Hollywood for this one! 84.9 percent of women say they've fantasized about getting it on "in a romantic location (e.g. on a deserted beach)."
Women #4: An Unusual Place
If you've fantasized about having sex in an unusual place (e.g. in the office or a public restroom!), you're NOT alone. This is a common one for women, with 81.7 percent of subjects admitting it has definitely crossed their mind!
Women #5: Participating in Oral Sex
78.5 percent of women say they fantasize about "taking part in oral sex," which must mean either receiving (or giving while receiving), as #6 is a bit less common — but certainly more specific!
Women #6: Giving Oral Sex
Stereotypically, women aren't all that interested in performing fellatio, but according to this study, 72.1 percent say they've actually fantasized about it, making it technically quite "common" to daydream about the act.
Women #7: Being Touched by Him
71.4 percent of women say they've fantasized about being manually stimulated by their partner, making whatever "base" you'd call this one pretty darn common.
Women #8: Touching Him
Turns out 68.1 percent of women actually fantasize about manually stimulating their man! How altruistic!
Women #9: Another Man
Whether they'd actually stray or not, 66.3 percent of women admit they fantasize about having sex with someone who isn't their spouse. But no, not a celeb crush like George Clooney … someone "they know!"
Women #10: Being Dominated
Okay, so there was a hint of Fifty Shades in these findings! 64.6 percent of subjects 'fessed that they've fantasized about being dominated sexually.
Men #1: A Romantic Connection
Believe it or not, men's #1 fantasy — which 88.3 percent of 'em admitted — was enjoying romantic emotions during a sexual relationship.

Men #2: Participating in Oral Sex
"I have fantasized about taking part in oral sex" (aka receiving it, most likely, or mutual action) is the second most common fantasy for guys. 87.6 percent of them admit to indulging in this one!
Men #3: Being With Two Women at Once
We ladies probably shouldn't be too surprised to hear that men's third most popular fantasy is having sex with two women. 84.5 percent of them love to daydream about doubling up. Oy!
Men #4: Another Woman
Higher up on the men's list than the women's, 83.4 percent of guys say they fantasize about having sex with someone they know who is not their spouse. Eek!
Men #5: An Unusual Place
82.3 percent of men are fantasizing about doing it in an "unusual place," like their office. How verboten!
Men #6: Watching Two Women
Apparently, sometimes, they don't need to think about actually participating with the two women, they just want to watch! This is a fantasy for 82.1 percent of guys.
Men #7: The Right Atmosphere
81.2 percent of men agreed with the statement "atmosphere and location are important in my sexual fantasies," so that's pretty common for them, too!
Men #8: Giving Her a 'Facial'
Okay, so we already knew this was a male fantasy, but now we know just how common it really is. 80.4 percent of guys say they've fantasized about ejaculating on their partner.
Men #9: Romantic Location
So this one made the cut for men, too, albeit quite a bit further down on their list. 78.4 percent fantasize about sex in "a romantic location," making this a "common," although not typical, desire for guys.
Men #10: Giving Oral Sex
The bad news: It's obviously not their absolute favorite, since it came in at #10. The good news: 78.1 percent of guys do fantasize about going down on women.
