20 Laundry Room Revival Ideas

Laundry isn't the most fun thing in the world, but needs to be done. Having kids means there's more laundry, but the kids are likely not old enough to do it themselves. Making sure we have the coziest and most efficient space possible can make doing it suck a little bit less. That's what we're hoping for anyway. While there are hacks to actually doing laundry most efficiently and different kinds of products, right now we're focusing on the actual space where laundry gets done.

So what are some ways to revamp a laundry room? It's totally doable within a reasonable budget despite what Pinterest may have one assume. It takes small changes — from storage hacks for detergent and dryer sheets, to upgrading laundry bins to reimagining the flooring with a rug. Believe us, an amazing laundry room this spring is possible. Plus, "laundry" signs and missing sock hooks can't hurt. Here are a few items that will totally revamp the space.

Washers and dryers are often in cement-floor basements or in closets that don't have attractive flooring. Upgrade the space with some new flooring. Easy-to-install interlocking floor mats will fit most spaces and don't require professional installation.

It isn't a real laundry room without a hamper, but not hampers are made equal. Plain or raggedy bags can make a laundry space look old and unkempt. Keep things tidy and stylish with a contemporary hamper.

Crate and Barrel

Not many people hang up their clothes with clotheslines and clothespins. But hanging them on chairs and other surface areas isn't a cute look, either. This folding drying rack can be set up when clothes need to be air-dried, then put away neatly when the laundry is finished.

Putting an iron in a closet or on a cluttered shelf can also contribute to a messy space. Give the iron its own spot by mounting it on the laundry room wall. It will save space, but also make the room look more organized.

OK, back to the laundry signs because they're cute and although their primary function is just to look at, that's OK with us. The cursive style on this one brings a different element to a room that typically has a lot of straight lines.

For those looking for an artsier vibe than just a sign, we recommend this set. Each says something related to laundry: Wash, dry, fold. Center them over the washer and dryer or the folding table. Buy a digital version or purchase the print and have it framed to match other wood items in the laundry room.
