Although everyone loves the good guys in Disney classics, the villains deserve a shout-out, too. After all, they consistently serve looks while concocting diabolical plans AT THE SAME TIME. Although some of them were misses, a few villains remind us why they should've been the fairest of them all.
Here's a ranking of classic Disney villain looks, from worst to best:
The Evil Stepmother's look in "Cinderella" was on the struggle bus.
Like, seriously, that dress gave me physical pain.
And with a fairy godmother in town, it's hard not to wonder why she couldn't have a better look.
Don't get me STARTED on Cinderella's evil stepsisters, Anastasia and Drizella.
Although they're some of the youngest villainesses, their looks just didn't have enough evil edge.
Sigh.
Sorry, girls.
I appreciated Claude's Frollo's hat in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," but the rest of the look was a yawn.
He was LITERALLY PURE EVIL, but his outfit made him look like an extra.
However, not ALL Disney villains lack ferocity. From the feathers to the lashes to the earrings, Yzma's look in "The Emperor's New Groove" was wild and amazing.
I loved every part of it.
When she matched her eye shadow to her outfit? Totally on fleek.
Although she doesn't have any magical powers, her quick changes were truly amazing.
Ursula's face in "The Little Mermaid" was BEAT.
Although she went a little heavy on the eye shadow, she should get props for mastering waterproof makeup — especially while trying to take over the sea.
From his flowing curly locks to his perfectly perched hat, Captain Hook had style in "Peter Pan."
Even his henchmen knew how fly he was!
And although he spent all of his time concocting a plan to catch Peter Pan, his 'stache was always on point.
Even though his final look was a bit, um, disheveled, he was definitely a Neverland style star.
Jafar's look in "Aladdin" was delivering serious drama.
Do you see that cape flowing in the wind? Hot damn.
His high-shoulder game was strong, too.
But when he changed into a snake, it didn't bode well for him.
One look at a time, Jafar. One look at a time.
And Dr. Facilier's crop top? "The Princess and the Frog" villain didn't care about fashion rules.
He ~magically~ and consistently served face.
Facilier appreciated a good mask, too.
He gets major style points for that.
And do you see that gold, black, and red color palette The Queen of Hearts from "Alice in Wonderland" rocked throughout the film?
The gold and black chevron design on the front of her gown was BOMB.
If it wasn't for the whole "off with her head" thing, she'd probably be more of a Disney style icon.
Let me be very clear: Hans was an asshole in "Frozen."
However, he was an asshole who had a pretty dope wardrobe.
Do you see that detailing?
More evil = better tailoring.
From her eyebrows on fleek to her ruby red nails, Maleficent from "Sleeping Beauty" knew how to serve face.
When Maleficent showed up to Aurora's shindig unannounced, she proved she's always dressed for a party.
And although most probably picture the Evil Queen like this...
... Snow White couldn't hold water to the Evil Queen's contour game.
Do you see that widow's peak scarf? AND that cape? Don't get me started on the crown and statement necklace. 8-year-old me was shooketh.
