Drama YouTuber Rich Lux seems to be sure that there is more the public needs to know about the sexual harassment and predation allegations made against James Charles. Lux took to his channel to lay out what led him to believe that James Charles hasn't told the entire truth about the allegations that Jeffree Star made against him concerning inappropriate sexual behavior.
But is Lux just spewing content based on his biases? He's received a little backlash himself for keeping the James Charles saga alive.
Apparently, the speculation began with this event flyer.
A family influencer brand and singer Chris Brown are teaming up to host a basketball tournament. The person hired to sing "The National Anthem" is none other than the very controversial James Charles. As displayed on the flyer, the Dolan Twins were also on the bill to participate in the game. Unfortunately, things abruptly changed.
Lux shared this screenshotted message from one of the hosts of the event.
Not long after the flyer was publicized, the event host shared this update. "Unfortunately the @dolantwins will not be able to attend the event. We had a miscommunication… They will be out of town during that time but they will be there in spirit," the announcement read.
Lux believes the sudden cancellation is connected to the allegations that Jeffree Star made against James Charles concerning the Dolan Twins.
"Grayson is going on camera shortly. To finally tell the world how you tried to molest him and touch him in his sleep… And made him uncomfortable for months you sick m***********. Next, Zach will be going on camera to tell how twisted and sick you were, trying to him to lie you and then make him feel bad when he didn’t wanna send you photos back," Jeffree Star accused in a private text message made public by James Charles. "You need to be locked in prison for a very long time. You need the internet taken away from you. You are a danger to society.”
James Charles has adamantly refuted the allegations.
"As disgusting as it is, I have to admit bringing up Grayson and Dolan was pretty clever. At the height of all these allegations and stories going around, both of the twins unfollowed me not wanting to be associated, and fans started speculating that the rumors could be as to why… ," Charles explained on his YouTube channel.
"Too bad that aside from our pre-planned collaborative jokes that happened in the Sisters fun videos of me and Grayson flirting, nothing ever happened between us. When all of this went down, I knew Jeffree was lying because the twins were the first people to call me and make sure I was OK."
James Charles also highlighted what he feels is an underlying bias against LGBTQ+ people.
James Charles seemingly believes that many of his innocent and flirtatious experiences with guys have been wrongfully labeled as predatory. "These stereotypes on gay men, have been, and continue to be very, very harmful to the community and have been historically used to villainize gay men in society," Charles said.
"I have never and would never and will never use my fame, money, or power to manipulate or get any sexual actions from a guy," Charles also said at a separate part of his video. That is disgusting. It is not me. And the fact that Tati brought this up blows my mind because she knows the real story."
Still, Rich Lux believes the Dolan Twins canceling their appearance points toward there being some truth to Jeffree Star's allegations.
"Jeffree Star's not lying. Maybe. That's what I'm saying," Lux stated. "Did something go down with the Dolan Twins and James Charles? James Charles made a video and said nothing happened. Jeffree Star basically wanted to get along in that video he posted. Why did the Dolan twins back out from being in the same room with James Charles if this wasn't an issue? I'm on to something and I feel it's gonna be exposed. Somebody is going to come forward and say it."
"It's kinda sneaky but it's starting to make sense but only time will tell," Lux also said.
While some people support Rich Lux publishing yet another video that questions the sexual morality of James Charles, he's getting a decent amount of backlash as well.
Many are questioning Rich Lux's bias since he has recently begun publicly hanging out with Jeffree Star. "I remember rich lux was fun to watch but ever since he started going with j* he changed. Even said when questioned about his feelings about j* racism, he said 'well he was nice to me,'" one critic wrote on Reddit.
"Rich loves to joke that he is on Jeffree's payroll but he indeed is," another person speculated.
A few critics believe that Rich Lux is simply communicating what Jeffree Star wants to say.
Jeffree Star professed that he would step away from the James Charles drama in a video called "Never Doing This Again." Still some beauty fans think he can't resist pulling strings with drama channels behind the scenes. "So Jeff isn’t going to put himself on the line legally so he’s sending his minions to do his dirty work. How very in character of him," a critic wrote on Reddit.
The Dolan Twins have not spoken up to defend James Charles or confirm the allegations themselves.
Instead, they have distanced themselves from James Charles entirely. Charles confirmed in his video that they did check on him privately while the drama between him, Tati Westbrook, and Jeffree Star raged on. Still, the twins no longer film YouTube videos with him. As Charles acknowledged, they also unfollowed him on social media because they did not want to be associated with him and the bad press (publicly at least). As Rich Lux highlighted, the twins have also backed out of an event that James Charles was scheduled to appear at. Still, they haven't confirmed or denied any of Jeffree Star's claims against James Charles on their behalf.
