Kylie Jenner's lips have been a point of mystery, contention, and admiration for years on end now thanks to the fillers that give her the infamous lip shape that's partially responsible for her billion-dollar cosmetics empire.
Fans of hers are attached to her fillers — they were rather disappointed when Jenner announced she was ditching them for a while post-pregnancy. That didn't last long, however, and Jenner's back to her regular lip-injection programming.
If you've ever wondered what it's like to get injected by Jenner's go-to specialist, you don't have to anymore.
The woman responsible for Kylie Jenner's lip fillers, who goes by Pawnta, recently told Refinery29 about her injection process.
Pawnta is a registered nurse and educator at L.A.'s Motykie Med Spa. She's been doing facial injections for 15 years.
Damn. Jenner called the right person.
According to her, Jenner doesn't come to her for any other injectables — only lip fillers.
So don't go getting any ideas, folks.
Because Jenner is on the younger side of her patients' age range, Pawnta sticks to a "less is more" method on her to keep her injections looking as natural as possible.
"A lot of people get fillers because they're getting older and losing the hyaluronic acid in their lips, but she's so young that it has nothing to do with aging," Pawnta told Refinery29. "For her, it's just about adding a little pout to her lips."
She also uses a very specific type of injectable on Jenner to keep her lips looking soft and hydrated.
"I like to use Juvéderm for the lips because it's made from hyaluronic acid. That means it retains and absorbs water, so it's specifically great for lips."
Yes, that's the same hyaluronic acid that's in a majority of your super-hydrating skin care products.
If you're looking to score Kylie Jenner lips — or ones that are even bigger — yourself, Pawnta advises taking things slow at first.
"I would still tell [a patient] to start out slow with the injections," she told Refinery29. "I would never use more than one syringe of Juvéderm in one appointment anyway, even if they want bigger lips. I'd recommend them to come back to really build up the look."
But don't worry about the pain — you'll probably get numbed down before the needle's even on the table.
"The Juvéderm comes with lidocaine, a numbing pain reliever in it, but I always use numbing cream for my patients, too," Pawnta told Refinery29.
Pending on your own metabolism, lip fillers will last from four months to about a year — how often you might decide to get touch-ups will depend heavily on that.
And now lip injections suddenly don't seem so extreme.
Or scary.
