When it comes time to propose, it's imperative that our partners know us. Do they know whether we want to be surrounded by family and friends during the big moment or would we prefer something a little more intimate? Would we like the moment to be recorded for posterity or would we prefer this is something stored in our shared memory?
It might not occur to someone that their partner would stage an entire heist to ask for their hand in marriage, but that’s just what one man did. We're not gonna lie — the video is horrifying.

Men surrounded a car as it pulled up to an intersection.
In a clip currently making its rounds on Instagram, we see a red car pull up to an intersection in Cali, Colombia. Immediately, three men — two on a motorcycle and one on foot — surround the car. Two more men approach the car, pulling both the driver and the passenger out. One of the men, who is seemingly hiding a gun in his fanny pack, guides the woman toward the front of the vehicle. The other men force the driver to his knees.

The 'robbers' eventually push the couple together.
The men push the two together and that’s when it’s clear that the whole thing is a ruse. The man produces a ring and asks his passenger to marry him. Some of us might have been pissed in this situation. The idea of being scared for your life and agreeing to spend the rest of it with someone who orchestrated that fear don’t exactly go hand in hand.
The bride-to-be didn't seem too upset.
This bride-to-be took it in her stride. She slapped her now fiancé playfully a couple of times before breaking down in tears. Obviously, her answer was yes. He slides the ring on her finger, stands up, and the two embrace, kissing one another. The pretend robbers celebrated and all was well.
Some online called this 'the best proposal ever.'
When the video made it to social media, the reactions were mixed. Some people celebrated the ingenuity, calling it the "best proposal ever."
Another thought the prank boded well for their marriage. “You have to love someone wholeheartedly to be with them in health and sickness, in kidnappings or robberies,” a comment reads.
Others thought this man went too far.
Others thought it was entirely too much. Some said it was a depressing reflection of violence in society.
“How sad it is to have violence and insecurity so normalized,” one Instagram viewer wrote.
Others wondered what other tricks might be up this man’s sleeve. “I’d say no to him!!!” another user wrote. “Imagine the other proposals? Love you want to go on vacation and fake a kidnapping.”
Honestly, the whole things is kind of disturbing, but to each their own.
