Let's make this as clear as we can: Anyone of any body type, shape, skin color, or ability is allowed to wear whatever kind of bikini they want. There's no required weight to put on a swimsuit — yes, even a string bikini.
Plus-size blogger and body-positive activist Anna O'Brien, aka @glitterandlazers, is no stranger to wearing bikinis, but the first time she experienced someone telling her to cover up just happened in Vegas while she was surrounded by women in pasties and skimpier bikinis.
Anna O'Brien shared a photo of herself in a snakeskin string bikini, looking like a total goddess.
"I find it ironic that I’ve taken photos in swimsuits all over the world and the one place I was told to cover up was Las Vegas," she wrote in the caption for the photo. "Sure, thin girls in thongs and pasties are A-OK, but a plus girl in a full coverage suit, trying to take an epic editorial shot — now that’s just too much."
Too late for her body shamers though: She already got "the perfect photo."
"They can’t erase this happened," she wrote. "I’m learning as I push myself to do more editorial type concepts, the push back is greater."
"But that’s why I push," she continued. "It’s more than just a girl in the city of sin in a bikini, It’s a statement. We will be seen. We’re not hiding anymore. And we’re going to wear whatever we want, wherever we want. Not just in Vegas. EVERYWHERE. Change is coming; the question is are you going to stand in the way or help us push through?"
O'Brien's fans are here for her stunning shot, of course.
In short: don't let anyone tell you that you have to be a certain size to pull off a bikini.
All bodies are bikini bodies.
