Karens and complaining go together like peanut butter and jelly. Their natural habitats include cafes, their kids’ school drop-off lines, and anywhere they’ve suffered a perceived injustice. One of their key characteristics is a cellphone at the ready to call someone and report whatever has happened to them. Karens live at the center of their own universes and usually target people who they perceive to be less important or powerful than they are.
TikTok content creator Beccalaluvlii’s family had a few “dances with Karens” right at their front door. Thanks to her video doorbell, the mom of three could see her neighbor’s irate interaction with her children, including a teenager and a toddler, over the sound of them walking in their own home.

The friend of a neighbor came a knockin.'
The confrontational Karen knocks on the door to ask a “nice question,” according to MEAWW.
“I’m downstairs with my neighbor, we’re trying to visit, [and] all morning long all we’re hearing is …”
At this juncture, she stomps her feet like a toddler having a tantrum. She asks them to be quiet. Although her words were polite, her body language is aggressive.
The cantankerous neighbor comes back later in the day. Devoid of any shred of faux politeness this time, she furiously hammers her first on the door. She bellows about the noise not being “funny” and resorts to the standard issue Karen threat: “If you want us to call the cops and report you for noise because this goes on 24/7, that’s what we’ll do.”
Then the situation really devolves.
Beccalaluvlii is ready to engage the aggressor in a way that keeps that woman away from her kids.
"I have a toddler, you can call the police all you like,” she responds through the speaker on her doorbell. “Because you guys bang on my ceilings all the time. So go ahead and call the police but we can report it right back.”
The frenzied Karen responds not with words but with kicking her foot on the door a five times.
She punctuates her assault on the door by yelling, “Go right ahead! Go right ahead!”
She starts to retreat but returns to inform the family, “We have the right to live in a peaceful community and you're up here banging around 24/7.”
Beccalaluvlii lets the retreating figure know that if she doesn’t like it, she can "buy a house.”

The mom’s TikTok video has more than seven million views, and the comments section doesn't disappoint.
One commenter admonished the Karen for engaging with kids. “If a minor answers the door, ask to speak with the guardian. At no point should you address an issue you have with a child that is not yours,” the person wrote.
Others shared their experiences with apartment living.
“I had a toddler above me that loved to jump off the couch. Never complained cuz… umm… toddlers don't know that sound travels!” someone wrote.
"My upstairs neighbor woke me up this morning cleaning and vaccuming and being loud. Guess what I did, Absolutely nothing. Expect noise or move out to a house in the country if you don’t like it," another comment reads.
