Sometimes doing something funny can totally backfire on you. A wife on TikTok thought that she was taking part in a funny social media trend, but then it went horribly — and hilariously — wrong. She evidently sent her husband a naughty text, hoping to film his reaction to share. But there was one thing she didn’t count on.
The wife couldn’t have anticipated that her husband was going to share his phone with a police officer just before her text came through. And there was nothing she could do about it.

The video is hilarious.
TikTok user Brittany Roper decided to send her husband a naughty text and film his reaction. The husband and wife were across a basketball court from each other when Roper decided to create the 24-second clip of her hubby’s great reaction to her message.
The moment had to be embarrassing.
In Roper’s video, her husband pulls something up on his phone, handing it to the police officer he was speaking to. The husband watches as the officer looks at the phone, taking several moments to look at whatever is on the screen. His face then turns skeptical before he hands the husband back his phone. It’s at that moment where he sees the message from his wife, giving her a horrified look across the basketball court.

No one was more embarrassed than the wife.
“When you do the ‘send your husband a dirty text from across the room’ trend… And at that exact moment he hands his phone to show his cop friend something else …” Roper wrote on the video. “My soul left my body.”
People had mixed reactions.
One person called the wife out, saying that the whole video was “fake.” “You were watching and filming him pass his phone for many seconds before sending the text,” the commenter wrote. “Uh, the math ain’t mathin.’ #fake.”
“It’s almost like you can see him talking to someone and meant that to happen,” another person wrote, to which Roper replied, “It’s almost like he never just hands someone else his phone. But pop off.“
People mostly found it funny.
“His friend looking like he wants to arrest someone for disturbing his peace,” one person wrote.
“The look on your husband’s face is the funniest thing,” another commented.
Another person wrote, “The cops poker face with a simple ‘wow’ as he hands the phone back.”
“Well, looks like it’s time to pack up and move to a different state!” someone suggested.
“I think at that moment I would have launched my phone across that court to stop what was happening,” another commenter wrote.
“The cop being unimpressed is what killed me,” wrote someone else.
