Chris Watts Blames His Desire To Murder His Wife & Kids on a Woman He Calls ‘Jezebel’

Chris Watts infamously murdered his pregnant wife, Shanann, and their two daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, in 2018. He was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Six years later, notes hand-written by the killer seem to blame his family’s deaths on his former mistress, Nichol Kessinger.

The New York Post obtained several of Watts’ notes detailing his affair and a newfound prison friendship with inmate Dylan Tallman. Watts and Tallman were reportedly in talks about writing a book together, but Watts seemingly backed out. Tallman continued with the project and released a third installment in the series on July 24.

Watts refers to the woman as ‘Jezebel.’

Watts reportedly wrote in a letter dated in 2020 that Kessinger led him to a life of sin and eventually to kill his wife and children.

"The words of a harlot have brought me low. Her flattering speech was like drops of honey that pierced my heart and soul," he wrote. "Little did I know that all her guests were in the chamber of death."

In addition to the letters, Watts allegedly shared his innermost thoughts with Tallman.

The Post reported that Tallman and Watts built a strong friendship in a Wisconsin prison, where they had neighboring cells. Tallman spoke with the Post and said he and Watts studied the Bible together.

“We started talking,” Tallman recalled. “We had a lot of very long conversations, spiritual conversations.”

They reportedly planned to pen a book together.

Tallman said Watts backed out, but he wrote a book in three parts called The Cell Next Door. In the first installment, Tallman wrote that Watts calls Kessinger “Jezebel” and blames her for ruining his marriage.

“I was having an affair with this girl and I ended up in love with two women at the same time. It’s what led up to what happened. She is of evil spirits, like Jezebel,” Watts said, according to Tallman's book.

He added, “He admitted that he was stupid to cheat on his wife, and he asked God’s forgiveness every day for his infidelity.”

Tallman denied having anything beyond friendship with Watts.

The prisoner told the Post that despite rumors that he and Watts were romantically linked, the relationship was platonic.

“No, that was someone just making things up,” he told the Post. “We were studying the Scriptures together.”

Kessinger has reportedly changed her name.

The woman known to Watts as "Jezebel" reportedly lives in Colorado but has changed her name. She has not spoken about her relationship with Watts for several years.

Watts was initially in a Colorado jail but was transferred to Wisconsin after pleading guilty to the triple murders. He is serving his life sentence in Dodge Correctional Institution.
