Dad Gets Bad Feeling After Teacher Followed Child Home From School To Check on Homework

Police in Ohio say a middle school teacher allegedly followed a student’s bus home to ensure they completed their homework. The unnamed teacher worked at Hull Prairie Intermediate School in the Perrysburg School District. Officials put the teacher on administrative leave following the incident and quickly made parents aware of the reportedly strange behavior.

According to a police report dated March 19 obtained by People, a male teacher allegedly showed up at a family’s home. He reportedly followed a school bus to get there. The teacher apparently told the parents he wanted to confirm their child’s assignment so the class would receive a pizza party.

According to the police report, the family contacted Hull Prairie Intermediate School Principal Scott Best. They told Best they “found it to be really weird and concerning.”

Perrysburg Schools Superintendent Thomas Hosler posted an update on the school district website. The administration put the teacher on leave after a parent reportedly complained. “The teacher arrived unannounced at their home after the school day. According to the report, the teacher requested the student retrieve a missing homework assignment. During this interaction, a parent arrived home, confronted the teacher on the front porch, and later emailed the building administrators. The teacher was placed on administrative leave before the start of the next school day and a police investigation was opened about the incident.”

Hosler cited the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Due to restrictions and an ongoing police investigation, he said the information mayb be limited.

Holser lauded the family for bringing the situation to his attention. “We are grateful to the family who reported this concern immediately, allowing us to act quickly. We encourage all students and families to speak up whenever they have concerns about staff conduct so we can address them right away.”

Police have yet to file charges in the case or name a suspect.
