An expectant mother is grieving the loss of her husband. Osvaldo Casas, the father of two children with another one on the way, was killed while confronting a group of suspicious people who had been frequenting the block where his family lived.
The incident took place at 12:30 a.m. August 10. Casas reportedly approached “suspicious persons” on their street, according to the Houston Police Department. The night before the fatal shooting, one of the family’s cars had been vandalized.

A suspicious vehicle had been in the Casas' neighborhood for days.
The couple noticed a black vehicle in the neighborhood. The next evening, a neighbor called the police and claimed that the vehicle was driving slowly through the neighborhood, according to KHOU. This was the night Casas approached the vehicle. Once he did so, gunshots were fired. He was hit multiple times and collapsed.

Judith Molina tried to perform CPR on her husband.
Casas’ wife, Judith Molina, who is eight months pregnant, ran out to her husband after she heard five or six gunshots and began performing CPR. “I did it for maybe like 10 minutes until the police arrived, and they took over, but by that time I already knew he was gone. I knew he was gone,” Molina told Fox 26.
Casas’ mother, Bianca Aguirre, told KHOU that he died in his wife’s arms.
Casas was looking forward to raising a son.
Casas was the father to a 16-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl, and Molina is set to give birth to a baby boy on September 6.
“Osvaldo was overjoyed at the thought of meeting his baby boy and becoming a father to a son,” Molina wrote in the GoFundMe page she has launched in the days since his passing. The crowd-funding site is being used to help cover funeral costs and ensure Casas is “laid to rest with the dignity and love he deserves.”
Molina launched a GoFundMe account to help bury her husband.
“Osvaldo was a man of deep love and kindness,” Molina continued on the page. “He was loved by so many in our community and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He had a special passion for the Dallas Cowboys and was excited to watch the first game of the season this Sunday.”
Thus far, the account has raised more than $23,000 of its $25,000 goal.
Molina encourages people who may have information to come forward.
Police are unable to provide a description of the gunman, Click2 Houston reported.
In addition to the monetary donations, Molina is also asking people to pray that her husband gets the justice he deserves. She urged anyone who may know something to come forward. “Don’t be afraid,” she told Click2 Houston.
