The family of a 14-year-old girl shot and killed inside a Wisconsin home claim they had no idea their daughter was hanging out with the people suspected of hurting her. Officers from the Evansville Police Department responded to a call about a shooting at a home in the 300 block of South Madison Street around 9 a.m. April 6, 2025.
When they arrived, police found Florencia Henthorn with a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency responders took her to the hospital, where she later died. An investigation into how the teen ended up at the home unearthed some disturbing details.
According to court documents obtained by WKOW, police began investigating Alyssa Ahrens, 20, and Hunter Drefahl, 26, following Florencia’s death. The Rock County Sheriff’s Department allegedly found evidence on their phones of sex crimes involving the teenage girl. Investigators reportedly uncovered video on Florencia’s phone that showed her engaging in a sexual relationship with Ahrens and Hunter Drefahl.
It appeared the adults allegedly intended to distribute the materials, and Florencia reportedly sent a text saying, “You guys aren’t selling my body.”
Hunter Drefahl reportedly told police that Florencia had shot herself with one of the guns in the home following the argument.
Natalia Lema, the victim’s mother, told News 3 Now that her daughter was excited about turning 15 and wearing a fancy dress to her quinceañera. The mother claimed she knew nothing about Florencia’s relationship with her alleged abusers.
When she spoke to Florencia on the morning her daughter died, Lema thought everything seemed OK. “She didn’t sound scared, mad, angry, sad. Nothing. She sounded normal,” she said. “I asked her if she was safe. She said, ‘Yes, of course. I’m good.”
Jeremiah Henthorn, the teen’s father, agreed. “If she ever felt scared or anything, she would call me,” he said, per News 3 Now. “She never called me.”
Per a criminal complaint obtained by the news outlet, Florencia had reportedly stayed with Hunter Drefahl the week before her death. Her parents claim they didn’t know. “She was pretty open with us and would, for the most part, tell us at least who she was with,” Lema said. “She never told us about these people.”
According to the sheriff’s office, Hunter Drefahl faces charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child, child enticement, and second-degree assault of a child.
Ahrens has been charged with contributing to the death of a minor, possession of child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child, child enticement, second-degree sexual assault of a child, and possession of methamphetamine.
Police have arrested a third person in connection with Florencia’s death, 44-year-old William Drefahl, who faces a probation violation charge.
Cori VanGalder created a GoFundMe page for Florencia’s family. It has raised more than $12,000 of its $20,000 goal thus far.
VanGalder explained what they intend to do with the funds raised: “Thank you to everyone who has shared or donated, we’re truly grateful. Now that additional details in the case have been uncovered, we would love to donate everything in excess of the funeral costs to one of the Wisconsin organizations that assists families who’ve been affected by domestic and/or sexual abuse, in Florencia’s name, so it lives on. We will continue to collect for this purpose through Thursday, April 9th.”
The investigation is ongoing.
