A Massachusetts teacher and her young daughter lost their lives during an out-of-state trip. The two, along with the woman’s husband and young son, were on vacation, when a fire broke out in the home they were staying in. The woman’s police officer husband was able to make it out and call for help.
Even though her husband escaped, his wife and their young kids were trapped inside until the fire department could come. Unfortunately, the woman and her daughter died in the fire. Her husband and son are still alive. The details of the fire are still under investigation.

The mother and her young children were trapped inside of the house.
On October 13, New York State police responded to a call about a fire at a residence in Clinton, New York, according to a news release.
The person who made the call was outside the home, and explained that a woman and her two children, ages 3 and 1, were still inside on the second floor.
Rescue wasn't immediate.
“Entry into the residence was not possible until mutual aid from Pleasant Valley Fire Department arrived,” the release explained. It then went on to say that 35-year-old Shannon K. Hubbard and her two children, were eventually removed from the home.”

All four family members were taken to area hospitals.
An ambulance took a 39-year-old man, later identified as Shannon Hubbard’s husband, John Hubbard, and their 3-year-old son, Jack, to Westchester Medical Center with “non-life-threatening injuries.” Shannon Hubbard was taken to Vassar Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Medical staff at Mid-Hudson Regional hospital pronounced the couple’s 1-year-old daughter Maggie Hubbard dead. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Their community is mourning Shannon and Maggie Hubbard.
Scott Carpenter, superintendent of the Monomoy Regional School District in Massachusetts, released a statement about Shannon Hubbard ‘s death, revealing that she was a preschool teacher at Chatham Elementary School.
“This loss will undoubtedly be shocking and painful for our school community,” the statement read, adding that it would be providing support to students, staff, and families across the district.
“Shannon was a beloved member of our school community, a dedicated and engaged educator, and a truly kind person,” said in a statement shared on Instagram. “Our deepest condolences go out to her family, loved ones, colleagues, students and everyone who was lucky enough to know her.”
Those close to the family are coming together to provide support.
The Greg Hill Foundation is fundraising to support the Hubbard family after the loss of Shannon and Maggie.
“The men and women of the Dennis Police Department are mourning this heartbreaking news,” Dennis Police Chief John Brady said in a statement. “Patrolman Hubbard is a valued member of our department and community, and more importantly our friend. We extend our deepest sympathies to him and his family.”
