A mother in North Carolina is facing multiple charges, including a felony and two misdemeanors, after allegedly strangling her son. Details of the arrest have not been released, but police found the young boy with a neighbor after the alleged incident. Although police didn’t say it was the neighbor who called for help, it can be safely assumed that the neighbor was involved. It was the boy who told police what his mom had done, leading them to arrest her. He was evidently quite shaken by the experience.
The Aberdeen Police Department shared in a news release that officers had arrested 29-year-old Savannah Jane Fowler after responding to a report of child abuse on September 25, 2025.

According to police, when they arrived, they found a neighbor standing next to a “visibly upset” little boy. Details on his age have not been shared publicly. The boy proceeded to tell police that his mother had “assaulted him by hitting him in the head multiple times and strangling him,” the release read.
In addition to speaking with the boy and the neighbor, investigators also reviewed surveillance video that apparently captured the incident.
According to a warrant obtained by WNCN, Fowler “grabbed the victim with both hands around his throat and held him down in chair.” She was charged with felony assault by strangulation, misdemeanor assault on a child under 12, and misdemeanor child abuse.
Fowler was initially held in Moore County Jail without bond on September 25. Her bond was then set at $5,000, secured. She posted it the following day, according to court documents shared by WNCN. Police have not established a motive for the abuse.
