Responding to the TikTok follower who said they were thinking about suicide, Deborah started tearing up. “It meant a lot to me that you shared that,” she said. “The reason why is because I sit here and I think, ‘Why me? What have I done in this world to make a difference?’ And maybe this was my purpose.”
Deborah added that although she didn’t “want it to end this way,” she was “so happy and so honored” to have had a positive impact on people. “You have a lot to live for,” she continued, addressing the TikTok follower directly. “You have a lot of people still out there for you, and I don’t want to go anywhere either. I really don’t.”
One of Deborah’s daughters shared the news of her death the day after Deborah posted her final video.
On Instagram, one of Deborah’s kids, Katerina Finck, announced her mom’s death on January 14, 2025. “To my mommy, my best friend, my sunshine–thank you for everything you’ve done for me,” Katerina captioned the post, which included several photos of her and her mom over the years. “You were the most beautiful mother and the best mommy anyone could ever ask for. You taught me strength, courage, bravery, and what it means to truly love and never give up.”

In a video shared after her mom’s death, Katerina explained that they said ‘Good night’ to each other every night.
The reason her family said “Good night” every night was because “you were never sure when the last night would be,” she said. Katerina explained that she was “really glad that we did that because Monday night, she wasn’t feeling good, and I said ‘goodnight’ to her.”
In the emotional video, which Katerina shared on January 16, she recalled approaching her mom that night and asking, “Can I have a mommy hug?” and they shared a hug. “I always knew that this day would come,” she said. “But I didn’t know what it would feel like without her.”
Katerina said her mom’s community on social media helped her ‘get thru the hardest part of her life.’
In a January 3 video, Deborah thanked her followers for all of their support and encouragement. “Life is so good even with stage 4 cancer,” she captioned her post at the time. “Stay strong and keep fighting with whatever you’re going through.”
In an update shared on January 7, Deborah told her followers that she was “getting worse.” “I love the life I had !” she captioned the video. “I enjoyed every minute of the life I had!”
Deborah’s husband, Paul Finck, shared a tribute to his wife on Instagram.
“Today, my heart is shattered as I share the news that my beloved wife, Deborah, has passed away,” Paul wrote on January 14. “After a brave and relentless five-year battle with cancer, she left this world peacefully, surrounded by love.”
In his post, he wrote that her “incredible devotion as a mother to our six children–Amanda, Alexandra, Stephen, Katerina, David, and Daniel” was “one of Deborah’s greatest gifts.”
Later in the post, he addressed his late wife directly. “Deborah, my love, you were my everything, and losing you is a pain I cannot put into words,” he wrote. “But I will carry you with me in every step I take, every decision I make, and every moment I live.”
