Mother ‘Demands’ Grandma Face Charges for Killing Two Grandchildren Due To ‘Negligence’

A Florida mother sadly had both of her two young children die while in the care of their grandmother, on two separate occasions. Her oldest, a 16-month-old, drowned in a pond, after allegedly being left unsupervised. Her youngest was just 7 months old, and reportedly died after being left in a hot car, reported MEAWW. The mother, Kaila Nix, is now seeking justice for her two children.

The 65-year-old grandmother, Tracey Nix, who Kaila Nix believes is responsible for the death of the two young children, is facing manslaughter charges, reported the Daily Mail.

The parents thought the first death was an accident.

Then first-time parents Kaila Nix and Drew Schock lost their child while he was in the care of his grandmother, Tracy Nix. they reportedly thought it was a "one-time lapse of judgment," reported MEAWW.

The 16-month-old boy, Ezra, reportedly drowned in a pond near the grandmother’s home while in her care, right before Christmas in 2021, reported the Daily Mail.

According to a police report, the grandmother had fallen asleep while the child was in her care, and her partner had gone to the grocery store. She reportedly woke up, was unable to find the child, called her partner, before she located Ezra, face down in the pond.

The report says she attempted CPR, and did not call 911. At the time that the first incident occurred, it was called a "tragic accident" that involved "non criminal negligence" per police reports.

The parents couldn’t ‘fathom’ that this happened twice.

After Ezra died, Kaila said that their daughter Uriel had a “minor amount of time” with her grandmother that was almost “always supervised," reported MEAWW.

After she lost Ezra due to the grandmother's negligence, Kaila said, "We were anxious, but I loved my mother and I am a daughter that wanted her mom in her life in some capacity, and in that moment, I thought that I could believe in second chances," according to MEAWW.

Unfortunately, another heartbreaking incident happened with Uriel and the grandmother. Kaila’s baby girl was born in March 2022, three months after her older brother died. In November 2022, Kaila left Uriel with the grandmother to go to a hair appointment, reported the Daily Mail.

Only two hours after she dropped off her daughter, she got the call from the local sheriff’s office that Tracey had left Uriel and she had "died alone in the car."

The mother is asking for ‘justice’ in Facebook post.

Kaila was reportedly in disbelief and said, “'I'm sorry, what? I know Ezra's dead. Why are you here, like what — what is this?' No Kaila, your baby is dead," she was told, reported MEAWW.

Drew said, "You couldn't fathom it happening twice," reported MEAWW.

"If I'm objective, she needs to go to prison. As her daughter it kills me to say it. As their mother I demand it," Kaila said.

In a Facebook post from February 2023, Kaila wrote, “I WANT JUSTICE.” She asked for everyone in her community to help share their story and tag "newscasters, influencers, and injustice groups." She wrote, “I gotta live w me & I can’t do that if I don’t fight, beg, claw, scream, post FACTS WITH RECEIPTS AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO ASK.”

Readers were horrified that the grandmother was allowed to ‘supervise’ the second child after the first incident.

Daily Mail readers were confused and angry that the grandmother had been left alone to supervise another child after the first incident.

One user commented: “After the first one, if we're mine, she wouldn't have been allowed within 50 miles of the second one! RIP.”

“There is something very wrong with that 'grandmother' and I use the term loosely," commented another reader. "Why you would ever leave your second child with her is beyond me. I cannot believe the horror this couple now faces."
