Family Charged After Intellectually Disabled Daughter Gives Birth to Brother’s Baby

Police in Oklahoma have arrested a couple and their son after discovering he allegedly impregnated their intellectually disabled daughter. An investigation into the family began after someone notified the Oklahoma Department of Human Services that an 18-year-old had given birth and they could not determine who the baby’s father is. A DNA test later showed a close relation between the baby’s parents.

An investigation by The Village Police Department reportedly found that the parents, Nathaniel Molden Sr. and Tameeka Molden, knew about an inappropriate relationship between their daughter and son, 19-year-old Nathaniel Molden Jr., but did nothing to help her. Police arrested all three family members in connection with the case.

Police began the investigation in July.

Per News 9, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services contacted police after the baby’s birth the agency couldn’t determine who the father was. Both Tameeka Molden and the teenage mother allegedly told a DHS worker the baby’s father was a boyfriend, but something apparently seemed strange to police.

The teenage mother reportedly gave a DHS worker a different story.

The victim allegedly claimed her father was the father of her baby, per News 9. Officials ordered a DNA test to determine the baby’s biological father.

“We collected DNA from the male members of the household, and it was confirmed through DNA testing at the OSBI to match the brother,” Village Police Deputy Chief Matt Butcher told News 9.

Police said they initially suspected Nathaniel Molden Sr. of being the baby’s father because of strange searches on his phone, including how to corrupt a DNA test and asking if siblings have the same DNA.

The brother reportedly told police about sexual contact with his sister.

According to court documents obtained by News 9, Nathaniel Molden Jr. told police he had sexual contact with his sister two years before the birth of their baby. He also admitted the parents caught the pair and punished them for behaving inappropriately. Sadly, it seems they stopped there.

Police said the parents never reported the abuse.

Butcher told News 9 the parents’ lack of response contributed to their arrest. “Part of the reason charges were filed on the parents was because there was no intervention to prevent actions toward this child,” he said. “At the time she couldn’t fend for herself.”
