The teen lived on a farm with the pigs.
Milena Shevelyova, 17, was on her family’s farm in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. The teen was in charge of things while her parents were visiting a nearby city. According to initial reports by local outlets, per The Daily Mail, she went out to feed the pigs and a “large and aggressive” sow knocked her out. This caused her to fall into the pen where “all the other pigs attacked her.”
She was allegedly covered in pig bites.
According to multiple news outlets, the teen was covered in “pig bites.”
“The animals tore her femoral artery and bit her. Milena died from blood loss,” the reports said. The teen’s parents claim that one pig in particular “had always been angry and aggressive.”

She was found by a friend.
The U.S. Sun shared a statement from the Prosecutor’s Office of Krasnoyarsk Krai about the case. “Closer to midnight, a minor friend of the girl found her in the enclosure with domestic pigs and large cattle, with wounds on her head and body from animal bites,” the statement read, saying the friend “called the neighbors for help.”
Now, a neighbor is claiming involvement in the incident.
The U.S. Sun reported on a new development in the case. Igor Zaika, a 40-year-old neighbor of the teen and her family, claims that he may have had something to do with her death.
Zaika claims that he went to the family’s farm after an argument with the teen’s father. He told police: “I opened the door and saw his daughter leaving. I hit her twice.” He further explained, “I hit her the first time, she [pushed me] away. I hit her the second time.” He claimed that she then fell.
The man allegedly “harbored a grudge” against the family, and planned to set their pigpen on fire.
Police are investigating her death.
According to the police statement, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene. No one knows how long she was bleeding before she died.
Medical examiners will perform an autopsy and figure out an exact cause of death. “If there are grounds, all necessary prosecutorial measures will be taken,” police said. Currently, the investigation is ongoing.
