What would you do if the person you love seemingly came back from the dead? A Las Vegas woman is currently answering that question. After her husband was the victim of a hit-and-run accident, authorities told her that he was dead. As she began to grieve and figure out her life, she was in for a shock.
It turns out that her husband was actually alive. He was misidentified as another person who had in fact died. Now, the couple and their children are trying to move forward with a new lease on life.

It was an absolute shock.
In September, police told Esther Acosta that her husband, Brandon Green, was the victim of a hit-and-run accident. Las Vegas Metro Police released a statement about the incident, writing “an unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on Durango Drive and collided with a pedestrian in the roadway.”
The statement continued, “The pedestrian was transported to the University Medical Center Trauma Center where he is being treated for his injuries.”

The reports stated that her husband unfortunately didn't make it.
Days later, metro police released a follow-up statement saying, “the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries at the University Medical Center and was pronounced deceased.” Naturally, Acosta was devastated by the news of her husband’s death.
“It’s like I had been hit, you know like I was just in complete shock. It was unbelievable. I just couldn’t believe it,” she told news outlet KLAS.
Acosta was in for the surprise of her life.
A day after pronouncing her husband dead, Metro Police told Acosta that the Clark County Coroner misidentified her husband. Brandon Green was still alive. His wife had questions.
“How can someone mistakenly be dead? Did my husband’s heart stop?” Acosta asked.
Since learning that he’s still alive, Acosta and her two daughters, Selah and Hope, have been visiting him at the hospital.
There's a long road to recovery
Currently, Green has brain bleeding, blood clots, and fractures. Doctors believe that he will likely be in the hospital for two to three more months.
While police have figured out what vehicle hit Green, they still don’t have a suspect or a license plate.
Acosta has a serious message for the suspect: “You should be frightened with living knowing you did that for the rest of your life and not saying anything, you should be frightened about that, not about the consequences. The consequences are the least of it.”
The family has started a GoFundMe to cover costs.
Acosta’s sister started a GoFundMe to help the family.
“Brandon has suffered severe injuries due to the severity of the direct impact to his body. He’s had multiple surgeries on his legs, brain, and so forth,” the fundraiser explains. “Brandon will be in the hospital for another couple of months as he still needs more surgeries as more fractures are being discovered with the X-rays doctors are conducting. Our family is beyond grateful for all the outreach, love, and support received from our community.”
