Question: When your child can do back-flips out of the crib, is it time to start thinking about a big girl bed? Sigh. I thought so.
Well, at least shopping for a new bed and redesigning her nursery will be fun.
If my daughter's potty bravado is any indication (she insists on straddling the adult toilet and hanging on for dear life — no kiddie potty for her), I don't think she'll need any encouragement to make the switch from crib to toddler bed.
But if she does, the child development experts folks at the Seedlings Group recommend reading Sophie's Big Bed with her to help make the transition a little smoother.
The book is about a little girl who loves her blanket and the toys in her crib. Every day she considers sleeping in her new big bed but opts not to (because her stuffed animals are afraid). I don't want to ruin the ending for you, but you can probably figure it out.
I wonder if the experts can recommend a good wine book for wistful moms who think their baby is growing up too darn fast.
Have you read Sophie's Big Bed? What did you think of it? Did it help your toddler make a smooth transition from crib to bed?
